It's been an interesting couple months for me around here. I served as Secretary of Citizen Affairs along with EddieA for 2 consecutive CP terms (Orikfricai and Israel Stevens). As such, I haven't gotten around to publishing my own paper since whenever I felt like inspiration struck, I really should've been doing work for DoCA. At any rate, I highly recommend taking a cabinet position if you are so inclined. Even when things seem slow around here, the Executive is always a busy and lively place. I've scaled back my responsibilities this term and have undergone some much needed reflection.

I also switched parties, from SFP to the Feds. I've known no other political home in my time in this game until now. I was a member of SFP during my first tour of duty in eRep back in 2010. It was a small, ideologically based party, but I was undeniably drawn to it. My RL politics are quite far to the left, so it was a natural fit. When I came back to the game early last year, I was thrilled to see SFP an active place, and with ambition to rise in the national political scene.

I worked my way up the ladder in both national and party politics. As I advanced in both arenas, I felt myself being pulled in 2 directions. On the one hand, I loved SFP. It was home and I loved the party members, even if we didn't always agree. I also resented the "meta-elites" for ostracizing the players I was close to.

Yet a funny thing happened on the way to the forum. After more than half a year in Congress, and spending time in 2 very different cabinets, I came to respect the "meta-elites". I also didn't always agree with them, but there was a great community there too. And the main difference was, this community was actually doing things instead of just talking about doing things. In my short time as a Fed thus far, I’ve also found it to be a party of tremendous activity. It’s run similarly to the eUSA government, which makes it second to none for those interested in getting involved in the national government. Also, the folks there are pretty, pretty cool too.

To sum up, our story is always being written in this game. Don't write people off due to preconceived notions. If you're playing this game, chances are you have a lot in common with others that do, no matter what side of the "divide" you're on. We will see what the next couple of months will bring, and how Plato’s new updates shake things up (or don’t). Watch this space, I hope to be doing more of these.
