Don't tread on me? A betrayal of epic proportions.
The Liberty Tree
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. --Benjamin Franklin
The story of the Gadsden flag has its origins in Benjamin Franklin’s Pennsylvania Gazette, in a political cartoon published by Franklin in 1754. Franklin wanted to respond to the divided state of the colonies with regard to the French and Indian War. His statement was that the colonies needed to unite in response to a growing French threat, with certain Native American tribes forming an alliance with them. The overtone is obvious: Franklin thought that the colonies were in grave danger if they did not unite, just as a snake could not live without its parts united.
This political cartoon later came to symbolize American unity and solidarity during the War for Independence. The Gadsden flag, which features the snake on a yellow background, is a symbol of American patriotism and loyalty to country. The first Naval ensign is a variant of the Gadsden flag, with 13 alternating red and white stripes and the rattlesnake symbol. In addition to the 13 stripes, the snake on the Gadsden flag has 13 rattles. Each flag features four irrevocably American words: DON’T TREAD ON ME.
With the ratification of a PEACE treaty today, this is exactly what the Government of the United States has done. They have tread on their duties and obligations to their country. By accepting a treaty of surrender that will work to bankrupt the American economy and its people, without the dignity of keeping all American regions, this current Government has betrayed promises to the American people on a deep, disturbing level. And while the Government may argue that this surrender will open doors for a rebuild and rejuvenated America, and that the war will only end in America, the mere suggestion that surrender is our only method of liberation should anger every American.
The Sons of Liberty will not stand for this extension of PEACE aggression. The only true PEACE treaty we recognize is one that ends PEACE’s reign of tyranny over the world. So, we call upon all Americans to respond to this call: DON’T TREAD ON ME. Don’t abandon your country in its time of greatest need. Fight PEACE and its evil wherever it may be. Recognize this treaty as a weak product of a government that finds safety in the forfeit of liberty.
If this treaty has angered you, a loyal and patriotic American, we urge you to join the Sons of Liberty today. We will ensure that this manipulative and unjust treaty is not realized, and that all US regions will be free again.
EDIT*** The Russians out of greed have decided that 300 per state isn't good enough.

>We will ensure that this manipulative and unjust treaty is not realized, and that all US regions will be lost because we are too arrogant to give in.
I KNOW MAN. DOWN WITH THE GOVERNMENT.
you lost
deal w/it
Oh, hun. Come on, now. Arrogance ftl.
The difference between Franklin's case and now, is that in the real world, you can try harder. In eRepublik, you can only try as hard as game mechanics allow you, and you can only push people who acknowledge you.
Force America to breach the treaty, weakenining it further.
GOOD PLAN BRO, PEACE salutes you.
If this were real life, I'd completely agree with your sentiment, go Red Dawn on them and all that, but its a game. Look at it like a game.

Voted, good article.
Unsubbed, sorry. Your wrong, we'll get PEACE later. WE need to grow and help our allies.
*sighs*
The real question is, will PEACE be able to hold itself together for four more months? There's already cracks showing in their alliance.
I don't like this treaty, and I don't like those terms. But would it be better for the entire country to be ripped apart and there to be no eUSA at all?
No.
@SoulSalvage, Ikarti, tmage: Agreed.

Sorry to hear that. We are not wrong. This treaty will cost us well more than getting wiped off the map. Our government has sold us out to benefit allies. Unacceptable.

The treaty's been in effect for how long, and already the Russians are backing out?
I find it hard to believe this wasn't planned. Lesser PEACE minions don't disobey Hundonesia without reprecussions.
My guess? The treaty was a PEACE feint, and also a morale-buster.
"HA-HA. We got you to quit.
Then we decided we wanted MORE American gold!"
"The Sons of Liberty will not stand for this extension of PEACE aggression. The only true PEACE treaty we recognize is one that ends PEACE’s reign of tyranny over the world."
This.
FREEDOM FOREVER! DOWN WITH PEACE GC!
Like...yes...but this 'treaty' was never intended to be the end of the war. It was intended to allow us the breathing space to continue it. Emerick did well to get as far as he did.
I hate to say, but the quote is incomplete, "deserve neither Liberty or Safety and shall lose both."
Also, damn Russia!

see how I countered your cute quote with one of my own...
Spanktastic.

I want to join
We lost because they are stronger, mechanics wise, we can't win. The numbers don't add up, I don't see why everyone is so retarded as to lose their country forever.
Another great article... I don't know why people don't get that this is not RL where you "fight till death", and the harder you drive yourself, the more you'll accomplish.
This is a game of numbers. Hungarians alone have over 100 field marshals, and just a couple short of 1000 generals. Indos a bit less, but still the same ballpark... There is nothing Fortis/Eden can bring up that even comes close to matching this power.
This is a war the US cannot win. Your best chance is to make peace and wait for the opportune moment. This of course means humiliation and some economic disadvantages on the short term... But this is the only way to evade annihilation.
A treaty is just a piece of paper with pretty words on it. This treaty is meaningless unless someone is backs it up with actions. If Russia doesn't have to get on board with the rest of PEACE, this treaty has the same worth as spam emails for cheap cialis.
How is PEACE a tyrant? While Atlantis was marching all over the globe and the eUS was opening up wars on countries for no purpose not many in the eUS decried the government for being tyrannical but now that the same MPPs you activated in you're aggression kick your ass suddenly you're somehow on the moral high ground? Don't blame Emerick he made the best of a shitty situation you want to blame someone? Blame Scrabman and Uncle Sam and those that allowed PEACE to attack the eUS in such a unified manner.
We do blame other, Mr. Maloy. We blame every single administration since the beginning of V1 for this. Some of our members, former military and government officials, are some of the ones that tried to get the US to see the errors of their ways.
This is a unified movement to change that, however it can only be done one step at a time. We have already made clear as to what step one pertains to. Once completed, we move on.
Again, Spanktastic. No one knows what I mean by that, and I don't care.
Saluted, agreed, and voted.
Nice article, John
This article was not written by me, nor any other John involved with this organization. It was written by members of our PR department.
But thank you for thinking this wonderful writing was mine. Possibly the only good thought you have have thus far in your administration. Kudos to you.
