Day 1,217, 19:37 Published in Canada Canada by Dominik

It has been a long time since I've written a remotely srs bsns type platform. But drastic times call for drastic measures. The country is pretty much broken, mmmkay? Part of it is the in-game admins, but part of it is us digging a hole for ourselves.

If you care about experience and whatnot, I have plenty of that. Here is a list of a few things I have done:

-Several time congressman. My memory is hazy. My medals say 6, but I may have been in congress before medals existed.
-Founder of the Democratic Action League.
-Member of the Writers' Guild of Canada.
-Presidential candidate against Bruck in April 2009 (I almost had it if it wasn't for Augustus Baldwin and those meddling kids!).
-Former Minister of Information/Communications

What I will do in congress. Hmmm. Well, first of all, I'll probably at least make a minimal effort to get unbanned from the forum although I'm still not entirely sure why I'm banned in the first place. My focus is this: quite frankly, I don't care about the military or economy. Not to say that I want to undermine these sectors or that I oppose people who do enjoy them. Just that, personally, I have always focused on the social and political aspect of the game. So here are a few areas I want to focus on:

The Supreme Court

I am in support of retaining a court system. However, it needs a complete overhaul. Our community is too small for a justice system mimicking the real world. We need to cut it down to its basics. Instead of a number of justices interpreting a huge document, one justice making simple common-sense judgement calls would easily suffice. The constitution recently proposed by Kilgore Trout is a start.

Administrator Accountability

I support legislation that would make forum administrators accountable to congress. As in-game mechanics are very limited, forums and IRC are the only way governments can shape society. Therefore, I support sacrificing the pseudo-neutrality of admins and making their positions subject to the orders of elected bodies.

Information and Education

I will fight, as I have been fighting since late 2008, for a more centralised system of information for new players. Creating a congressional/cabinet project to improve the wiki, as well as writing content that can be posted on the forum and accessed by new citizens. I also firmly believe that budgets aren't just for the military. I'd like to see the government fund a Writers' Guild type organisation as well as fund education programs.

The Military

So you don't get the impression that I am anti-military. I would, personally, like to see the expansion of the HOPE militia for citizens like myself who want to help out in battles but don't feel like committing to either CAF or TCO.

Ethics

I pledge to conduct myself with the highest of ethical standards. We need to develop trustworthy leaders and blacklist those who aren't trustworthy. I have absolutely no attachment to anything material in this game. I do not own companies and buy weapons for fighting only from the few gold I get from SS and HW medals. I believe that I am unbribeable. I expect nothing less from my fellow congressmen than to behave as if they had no attachment to gold or personal glory.

Foreign Affairs

Bomb everything. Could also apply to the military portion.

Economy

Bomb everything. I wish I was running for an eRep admin position. That would have been such an appropriate slogan. See what I did there? I made a funny! You see? YOU SEE? I'm hip. Vote for me.

Yes, I am running as an MDP candidate. This might seem ironic as a person whose platform comes as close to anti-militarism as you can possibly get in this game (and I am, once again, not anti-military). However, I believe the MDP is the party with the best potential at the moment. They have conducted themselves with an ethical standard higher than any party currently in the top 5. Therefore, I thank Muglack for allowing me to run under the MDP banner and I am proud to do it.

Here are some touchy-feely cute images to guilt-trip you into voting for me:
