DoD Release: IDF Reformation

Day 688, 12:05 Published in Ireland Ireland by Irish Department of Defence

My Thanks

Fellow eIrish. It is with great pleasure that I come before you today to announce the reformation of the Irish Defence Force. In the last month much was done to bring this day closer to fruition by the tireless work of my forbearer General Grainne Ni Mhaille and her staff. General Grainne is quite simply the greatest and most passionate warrior and soldier’s advocate that this Fair Isle has ever seen. Her boots are impossible to fill, but her legacy is simple to carry on, and it is my distinct honor to do so.

Love Ireland…

Fight smart and fight like Hell…

Never Surrender…

Care for her Brutes…

General, I salute you, your continuing service to this country, her people and her name. I thank you for your mentorship, your advice and most of all your friendship. I beg you return to us when you are ready.

Now to business.

Enlistment

We have all filled out numerous forms. This form will be the second to last form you will fill out. I need an accurate list of all active personnel who wish to enlist or re-enlist in the IDF. You will find the link at the bottom of the page at the ENLIST NOW button, but I urge caution that you read all in this release first.

I am currently searching for software gurus to create an auto updating API to manage our personnel roster. If you believe you have the requisite skills please contact me at my profile or here at the DoD. Five gold will be paid to the first programmer to deliver an acceptable working product.

Initial Organization and Mobilization

As we rebuild the IDF we will begin in simple format. As described visually in the Org Chart below there will be four main divisions of regular deployable soldiers. The Chief of Staff will command the Home Guard (Elected Officials and those not willing or able to travel) and the Reserves (Baby Brutes under 5 strength).

I will command the Special Warfare division. If you aren’t invited you don’t have the clearance to ask the question…

Once we stand up our initial force we shall expand the divisions as needed maxing out at ten total; eight Regular Divisions, Special Forces and Home Guard / Reserves. The forum will be updated prior to you receiving orders to report to your respective divisions. There will also be a section of the forum entitled Boot Camp to train new citizens.

Leadership Positions

There will be three main leadership positions in each division;

Commanding Officer (CO) – Reports to the Chief of Staff but has a direct line to the Minister of Defence. The CO is culpable for all actions, incidents, praise and punishment within his / her division.

Executive Officer (XO) – Reports to the Commanding Officer and is responsible for administration. Administrative work is defined as maintaining accurate unit rosters, handling leave paperwork for travel or inactive time, requests for transfer, awards and citations. This is a tough job meant to prepare you for command. Abandon all hope ye who apply.

Chief of the Guard (COG) – Reports to the XO and is responsible for weekly mustering of Brutes and good order and discipline. Mustering is defined as roll call. Good order and discipline includes but is not limited to proper protocol and respect within the barracks, tracking wellness and tallying damage numbers for war game competition.

Applications for CO are now being solicited from all former commanding officers regardless of rank and of officers of the rank of Colonel and above regardless of previous position.

Applications for XO are open to all officers of Captain and higher.

The Chief of the Guard position shall be filled at the CO’s discretion.

Requests by CO’s for XO’s of their choice shall be given full consideration. All applications shall be made to the CoS via PM. If the CoS is unavailable (check his shout) then forward your application to the DoD Org.

Note: No Commanding Officers are being fired, however there will not be enough billets in the beginning for all present CO’s to retain command. Be patient, when the IDF is expanded those who have already proven themselves with return to leadership positions.

Oath of enlistment

Effective immediately all citizens enlisting or re-enlisting into the Irish Defence Force are required to swear the following oath and creed;

I am an eIrish Warrior.

I will support and defend the Constitution of the Republic of Ireland and I will obey the orders of those appointed over me.

I represent the fighting spirit of the Irish and all who have gone before me to defend Éire, her people, her honor and her soul.

I proudly serve my country’s combat team with Honor, Courage and Commitment.

I am committed to excellence and the fair treatment of all.

I am loyal to my President, and loyal to my fellow soldiers.

I bring no politics to the battlefield

And my mates come before all else.

I never discuss battle orders in the presence of the enemy.

I never surrender.

While in uniform I swear no creed but this;

I am Ireland.

Future Operations

Future DoD releases shall contain War Game schedules, Military History, Training and Tactics and Recruiting information. All official battle orders will be released via this org unless a State of Emergency exists. In that case follow the orders of the On Scene Commander (Highest Ranking Officer to take Charge).
