Do great men form great nations?

I would be wrong if I said it is true, I would be wrong if I said it is not true. And there it is, the paradox that I so much adore. I find it hard to deny the fact that great men in some way do increase the nation's prestige, especially that can be seen in eRepublik. But that is to most of you of no importance, to me it's a fact that I find mind dazzling. We automatically link people with countries, and we somehow have a greater opinion about the country itself if we know that from the mentioned nation many great and wise men derived from. In this game this is very much present, you don't know much about other nations, their media, their values, pretty much anything, all you hear about the other country is what you are told about their most prominent members of the community and in some way, yes, they are a propaganda material - as odd as it sounds. Having great men amongst is pretty much like winning a loto, they automatically increase how you, the community, your nation is thought about.

You may as well not know someone who you are traditionally friendly with - country wise -, but he will still greet you with an open heart. And the reason for that is due to few individuals that make it all possible. Thus they do create great nations, they do create a warm feelings and thoughts about you, even if they don't know you, about yourself.

I have gone to the friendly side of the greatness of individuals, now it's time to discuss the part how it affects the military side of the country. Most of you probably know parter, if not, the most easy way to describe him would be he brought glory times upon Russia. And simply in that way, you can see, with his own presence he made magic happen. His political influence, economical and financial power made it all possible. Most of the Russians would say he was a great men, but in my aspect he was a fanatic willing to do anything for his homeland and some would say that is not true, although I have my doubts whether he was not driven by personal hate towards his enemies and the thoughts of being famous all over this game. There was even a joke about him that he was willing to sell his house just to see USA tremble and be fully conquered - first time in its history. For some it's worthy to spend loads of money and do unprecedented things, after all, that's why some play this game. To do the impossible, to create brilliance.

Judging from what he did, parter was one of the great men who roamed eRepublik, but he in some way had his weaknesses like everyone else.

The other type of great men are the ones who create magic on paper. Yes, you guessed correctly, the writers. Without good writers, this game would be as mediocre as any other. But the question arises, how exactly do they contribute to the greatness of the nation? It depends, naturally, on how good they are, if they are good, they are bound to have a good impact on their homeland, get some attention and with that most of the times comes fame. People tend to follow the ones who are popular amongst the crowds, and they generally have a greater impact than those who generally aren't that known. In general, the writers have the biggest impact amongst all in this game. They form general opinion, or even create it, cause tensions or break them up and even generate claims on other nations. Without newspapers - face it - this game would be pretty much dead via the factor of how interesting it is.

I could go on and on trying to group people in the way they are great, but it turns out that is impossible, to say the least. Even if you are great, at the end it won't matter where you excel at, you will get much wanted reputation, respect, pretty much whatever you wished for will be at your hand. But to achieve that, remember, you must be one of a kind.

As elitistic as it sounds, and harsh to accept it, great men do form great nations. They are the backbone to it and with them, the meriotocratic system can work as the way it is designed to. ERepublik follows the example where those who are most skilled and enough hard working get what they deserve - or in other words get to be above others, even if they seek for it or not. The system automatically gives them some kind of advantage, their opinion is respected, their thoughts are more valued, even if that is incorrect from its basis.

I am somehow implying that even with great men, you have possibilities of being misguided. But in general terms, great men will always be great due to the fact what they created themselves and the fact that others acknowledged what they did in the name of others or in their own name.

Greatness comes with you, while greatness is then leased to the country. Being great makes your country great in the eyes of others.
