Beste burgers van deze unie

Het voelt nog wat onwennig, onze nieuwe staat, maar ik weet zeker dat we er samen het beste van kunnen maken. Ik verwelkom onze Belgische broeders en zusters in deze staat waar ze hun eigen land voor hebben moeten opofferen.

Als nieuwe president van deze nieuwe staat, wil ik allereerst mijn tegenstander Bunyan bedanken voor deze verkiezingen en voor zijn felicitaties. Hij was een waardige tegenstander. Verder wil ik graag iedereen bedanken die op mij gestemd heeft.

De meeste mensen in België hebben niet op mij gestemd, maar ik wil ook de president voor hen zijn. Wij zijn allen samen in deze unie en zijn daarmee dus één volk. Iedereen in deze staat is gelijk, Nederlanders, Belgen en ook mensen met een ander land van oorsprong.

De komende maand gaat een interessante worden. De overgang van België en Nederland naar de unie is nu snel verlopen, maar er valt nog veel te doen om dit verder tot een succes te brengen. Aangezien ik die overgang niet alleen kan bewerkstelligen, heb ik de Belgische presidentskandidaat Palodigon aangesteld als Vice-President. Verder zullen tot aan de volgende congresverkiezingen enkele Belgen toegang krijgen tot regering en congres discussies. Het moge duidelijk zijn dat wij graag zien dat de Belgen zich welkom voelen in deze nieuwe unie.

Samen zullen onze landen sterker staan, want we hebben nu een betere economie, meer inwoners en meer arbeidskrachten. Ook hebben we nu meer actieve politici en we kunnen dus een mooie periode tegemoet gaan.

Het is nog onduidelijk welke naam te gebruiken voor onze nieuwe staat. Enkele mogelijkheden zijn Dietsland, Groot-Nederland, Verenigde Nederlanden en Benelux. Het spel zelf geeft ons helaas niet de mogelijkheid om de naam van ons land officieel aan te passen.

Nederland is lid van PEACE. De reden daarvoor is simpel; we zijn een klein land en in landen als België en India is eerder gebleken dat kleine landen het moeilijk hebben wanneer zij er grotendeels alleen voor staan. PEACE kan Nederland de bescherming bieden die het nodig heeft, want hoewel we op redelijk goede voet staan met onze buren, blijft er toch nog altijd dreiging. Voor de buitenwereld zal het raar klinken, maar de Belgische regio's blijven voorlopig neutraal binnen de unie, geen lid van PEACE of Atlantis. Nederland respecteert immers de wens van de Belgen.

Nederland gaat ook proberen de banden met onze buurlanden aan te halen. Die met UK zijn momenteel enigszins gespannen vanwege het feit dat België onder hen protectie stond en die met Duitsland zijn gespannen sinds dat onze oosterburen bij Atlantis gingen.

Vanaf vandaag gaat ons land een nieuw tijdperk in en ik ben trots dat ik daarbij de eerste president mag zijn.

Dear citizens of this union

It still feels a bit akward, our new state, but I know for sure that we can make the best out of it. I welcome our Belgian brothers and sisters who had to sacrifice their own nation for this state.

As new president of this new state I would like to thank my opponent Bunyan for these elections and his congratulations. He was a dignified opponent. Furthermore I would like to thank everybody who voted for me.

Most people in Belgium have not voted for me, but I would also like be be their president. We are all together in this union and are therefore one people. Everyone in this state is equal, Dutch, Belgians and people with another country of origin as well.

The next month will be an interesting one. The transition from Belgium and the Netherlands to the union was a fast one, but there are still many things that need to be done to make this a succesful union. Because I cannot make it succesful by myself I appointed the Belgian candidate for presidency, Palodigon, as Vice-President. A few Belgians will also get access to government and congress discussions. It should be clear that we want to show the Belgians they are welcome in this new union.

Together our countries will be stronger, because now we have a better economical situation, more citizens and a bigger workforce. We also have more active politicians, so we can look forward to a great period.

It is still unclear what name to use for our new state. A few possibilities are Dietsland (Dutchland), Greater-Netherlands, United Netherlands and Benelux. The game itself unfortunately does not give os the option to change the official name of our country.

The Netherlands is a member of PEACE. Reason for this is simple; we are a small nation and it could be seen in countries like Belgium and India that small countries have difficulties surviving when they stand alone for the biggest part. PEACE can give the Netherlands the protection it needs, because although we have pretty good relations with our neighbours, there is always a threat. For the outside world it will seem strange, but the Belgian regions will stay neutral for the time-being within the union, neither PEACE nor Atlantis member. The Netherlands respects the wish of the Belgian people.

The Netherlands will try to improve relations with our neighbours. Our relations with the UK are somewhat tense because Belgium was under their protection and the relations with Germany are tense since they joined Atlantis.

From today on our country will start a new era and I am proud I am the first president of that.
