" Don't steal my BH!"

"that PP is a PTO attempt!"

"good work o7"

If you happen to be new to this game, these phrases are utter gibberish. You may ask around on articles or the friends shout area for answers, but you probably feel like a fool asking them.

The folks here in Canada are very friendly, no question is a stupid one. However, it may be difficult to piece together all the common phrases used in the game. Or maybe the person you asked didn't give you a perfect meaning. The following should hopefully help anyone lost in the early confusion of this game.

Lets start with an easy one...

"o7"

This little icon will usually pop up in the comment section of articles, and is used by the commenter to express his/her favour towards the article. The "o7" is supposed to look like a person saluting. the "o" looks like a person's head, and the "7" is supposed to look like an arm saluting. the "o7" is used to replace the words "good work", "good job", "congratulations" or any other general compliment on a persons accomplishments. It is also often used in tandem with the very words it replaces.

Because the world is in constant conflict, these words get thrown arond a lot...

"BH"

"BH" is an abbreviation for the Battle Hero medal, which is attained by dealing the most damage in a battle. People who actively hunt for "BH" are naturally called "BH Hunters".

"RW"

"RW" stands for Resistance War. A "RW" is a battle in which only one nation participates, and can only be started in a region which is not native to its current owner. If the battle is successful, it returns to its original owner.

"TW"

Stands for Training War. a TW is used by allied nations to help their players get more active and to help them gain points towards the True Patriot medal. How they are carried out is generally, the smaller nation attacks the larger nation, as the attack will likely be repelled.

"NE"

"NE" is an abbreviation for Natural Enemy. A RL (I'll get to that one soon) pair of Natural, or sworn, Enemies would have been Britain and France before the 20th century, or the US and the USSR during the cold war. In-game a NE is used by nations congress to attack a neighbouring country without expending resources, namely money.

"SS Medal"

Stands for Super Soldier Medal. A person attains one every 250 strength points they get.

"Tank"

A tank is someone who deals a massive amount of damage in a battle. They can also be defined as someone who spends large amounts of gold or RL money to give them an edge in the game.

"MU"

Stands for Military Unit. Military units can operate as nationally sanctioned armies or as private militia. Canada has no official army. Our three largest militias are the Crimson Canucks, Captains of Industry, and Cordis Die.

"FF"

The freedom fighter medal is the newest in eRepublik. It is a medal awarded to people for winning multiple RWs

"TP"

The true patriot medal is awarded to people who deal set increments of damage for their citizenship country.

I think that covers the war related phrases. Now lets move on to civilian life phrases...

"RL"

Real Life. This phrase is used when the speaker is talking about their life in the real world.

"CP"

"CP" stands for Country President. Our current CP is Oinyo. The CP naturally receives powers and perks as president. These includes such in game powers of proposing bills, appointing federal ministers, and generally overseeing the inner workings of the nation. The CP elections are held on the 5th of every month.

"PP"

PP stands for Party President. The PP is the elected leader of a political party. Although the job of PP isn't nearly prestigious as the CP, the PP has very similar powers, albeit on a smaller scale. the PP can pick the month's party congress members, they can also appoint party Cabinet members and they also retain the power to choose the party's CP candidate for the month's election

"PTO"

a "PTO" is a political takeover. This is the exploitation of the democratic process where a single person or a group of people plan the takeover of a party by using straw man voters, or voters brought in from am outside group. PTOs are extremely dangerous, if an enemy of a party uses a PTO to take it over, the party becomes their plaything.

"ATO"

ATO, or Anti takeover, is the opposite of a PTO. If a party is under threat from a PTO, they can call upon friendly parties to send spare voters over to the party to vote for the party establishment candidate, thus averting a PTO.

"Multi"

A multi is an account that is being controlled by another player. If the existence of a multi account is uncovered, it will almost always lead to a Perma-ban. Perma-banning around election day is potentially crippling for a party or a nation if one or more of the candidates is revealed to be a multi.

"Sub"

Sub is short for subscribe. That is pretty obvious. If someone comments in one of your article "subbed", it means that they have subscribed to your newspaper. if you get to 1000 subs, you get the Media Mogul medal.

"V+S"

if someone has said "V+S" in the comment section of your article, it means they have both subbed to your paper and voted the article.

I think that covers the Basics. If I missed anything, pray tell. Reporting for the eCanadian Business Weekly, this is TheSocialistChicken. Stay Classy eCanada!
