Dept. of Education - Battle Types

Day 1,415, 03:29 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs

The different battle types as seen on the battle list.

Direct battles occur every 24 hours in an active war, such as the current one between us and Spain. The president of the country with initiative (the winner of the last battle in the war) gets to choose what region to attack and at what time, giving them the advantage of starting a battle in the opposing country's twilight hours.

There are some simple rules to what can be attacked and what can't. For a country to attack a region, it must share a border somewhere in it's country. Borders can be seen at the bottom of a region's page, which can be found from a country's Society tab. This doesn't have to be a visible land border. As an example, look at the International Port State of Hawaii, which shares a border with Japan. Battles also can't be initiated if the region is already under attack by another country or by a resistance.

Direct battles are influenced by alliances, or MPPs. Alliances are signed by the congresses of two countries, and once active, allows a country to fight for their ally from their own land. As the USA, we have about 20 countries as allies at any given time.

After a foreign region is conquered, the original owner of that region can launch a resistance war (RW) to reclaim it. Unlike direct battles, resistance wars are started by 10 people who finance it with $1,000. When you are in an occupied region, the option to help finance the war will be on the front page. RWs can be opened against more than one occupier at once, but only one RW at a time is allowed for each.

RWs do not activate alliances, you have to move to the occupying country to participate in the battle. This makes a much smaller combatant amount and gives downtrodden countries a better chance at liberation.

Until next time,
