Hello eAustralia and welcome to the 2nd DoPR Press Release by the Cottus Arci Government and my (CrowdedHouse) first as Minister for Public Relations.

First a quick thank you to my Deputy, Brenflakes, for filling in for me while I was on holidays

EDEN Referendum

Prime Minister Cottus Arci has released an article announcing he has begun a Public Referendum on eAustralia becoming a member of EDEN.

Essentially EDEN has 'pre-admitted' eAustralia into the alliance. This is similar to the path of the eUSA where there was a one-month window allowed for voting, etc... before becoming a full-time member.

Prime Minister Cottus Arci declared in his article that the two-thirds of the Senate voting in favour of joining EDEN has been met, thus now asking the public to go HERE to vote.

However, Speaker Alex Australis has raised an objection HERE stating the Public Referendum started by Cottus Arci was illegal. Upon that post the PM asked for the Speaker to see him - we are not privy to that discussion or it's outcome and we await a comment by either men.

Senate Activity

The biggest news to come from the Senate in the last 24 hours is the release of the Budget - The first since the War with Brazil.

Minister of Finance Dark Vorodor has posted the January 2010 budget HERE

The Minister in conjunction with this Budget has also proposed a bill for the Department of Newbie Relations. This bill would allow the Department of Newbie Relations a set amount of Gold to advertise it's services. The bill can be found HERE

Senator Infin (ANP) is proposing that "Questions on Notice" be stickied at the top of the senate forums. The Senator argues this would allow the senate to pose questions and seek answers from the PM or members of cabinet. The proposal can be found HERE.

Current Votes

There are currently 5 items being voted on in the senate.
Parliamentary Process Act
EDEN Alliance Treaty Bill
Establishment of the Office of Premier Act , MPP renewal with Greece, Spain, Croatia and Inspector General Nominations.

Senate Secrets Archives
In the coming days the Department of Public Relations will be getting in contact with the Speaker and his Deputies to review the Senate Secrets Archives.

As some of you know not everything discussed in senate can be seen by the general public, especially in times of war. These discussions are held in the Senate's Sensitive section. After a certain amount of time, these discussions are sent to the archives, but listed as senate secret and not viewable to the public.

However, after a certain time the 'sensitive' label lapses and these documents can be viewable to the public (unless they are deemed to be still sensitive and applicable to a current situation).

We hope to have soon a list of this items that can now be classified as viewable for the eAustralian public to read.

eOlympics

Deputy Minister of Newbie Relations Dartreal has announced that eOlympics are coming soon!

It's yet another great way to enhance your social skills here on eRepublik.

For further information, view the article HERE

*This eOlympics should not be confused with the eOlympics running in eCanada or eEurope - The Department of Public Relations maybe contacting the organizers about a possible name change or merger with the other eOlympics.

eRepublik Radio
Another enhancement to your eRepublik experience is the launch of eRepublik Radio.

Currently in BETA Test Phase 1 - over the coming weeks this 24/7 station will feature news and interviews with people throughout the eWorld and your chance to choose the music.

We are hoping the Prime Minister will consider a weekly radio address to the nation.
