THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY PEOPLE: LINE-UP



Last article, we outlined the main elements that go into making the D.P.P. what it is - Democracy, People and Partying.
In this edition of our Pre-Election Special, we would like to introduce you to our main candidates for Congress. Some of them you probably already know, while others are fresh faces that will hopefully reinvigorate the party with their fresh ideas and activism!
For this edition we will focus on the Peninsular and Sabah, as the DPP has yet to finalise the candidates for Sarawak.

PENINSULAR eMALAYSIA

OK, so first, let us start with the Peninsular, traditionally known as Tanah Melayu (Melayu), home of Malay history (starting with the Malaccan Sultanate), and the modern day political centre and capital, Kuala Lumpur. It is natural that here we find some heavy-weighters of the party:

Spykerman (Level 20, Supersoldier Lvl3) – born 3/1/2010

The long-running Queen of D.P.P and former Party President (April 2010). Do not underestimate her tendency to avoid open publicity, when she is pushed into a corner her tongue can be as sharp as her political acumen (as shown in her ability to quickly silence her critics). She has served as eMalaysia’s Minister of Immigration (later combined into several departments into the larger Ministry of Interior – MINT), and will be bringing her governing experience with her into Congress (she has already been a Congress member for three terms).

Clanky4 (Level 21, Supersoldier Lvl 5) - born 30/11/2008

Originally from eUSA, Clanky4 loves Hillary Clinton so much, he chooses to forgo any personal image and have her as his avatar. This speaks volumes about Clanky’s love of Democrat politics. He raised some controversy in the early days with his campaign to change the party name (which he claimed was too ‘communist’), but his incredible tenure as Party President last term (May2010, in which DPP won its largest share of seats in Congress ever) has raised him in the party’s esteem. Clanky is passionate about two things in seems: the forum and citizen welfare, and any newbies who care to come down to the forum will find in him a helpful mentor and advisor.

Liquid Oxygen (Level 21, Supersoldier Lvl 5) – b.26/05/2009

This war veteran has seen a lot of action in his days, but came out of retirement recently due to the catastrophe that was President Suzhaimiz’s administration. He is one of eMalaysia’s top military advisors as well as its representative to SOL. It is a shame his Ragged Edge journal does not come out with as much articles, as from what we have seen, he potentially could be eMalaysia’s best writers. This will be his first time running in Congress, which would benefit greatly from his experience in military and international affairs.

Bryce S (Level 21, Supersoldier Lvl 5)– born 14/11/2008

One of eMalaysia’s oldest citizens, and former DPP Party President (February 2010). He’s been around for so long, we had to scratch around in the national archives to find anything about him! He is originally from eCanada (born 14/11/200😎, and was around way before the DPP was DPP. He’s lived through numerous wars, the merger with Thailand, and could probably write a book on the history of the PTO-ers in eMalaysia. If he wins, this will be his 9th term in Congress, where he will continue to provide ancient pearls of wisdom.

Danijel Petrovic (Level 20, Supersoldier Lvl3) - born 9/10/2009

Our Croatian answer to the Serb menace, this member of the Malaysian Army will be running for Congress for the first time this term.


SABAH

Ah.. beautiful Sabah. Home of sandy white beaches and Orangutans, it is known in Malay as the Land under the Winds (Negeri di Bawah Bayu). Despite its beauty, this corner of the island of Borneo has had a violent history, from the time when it was effectively run by a Corporation in the 19th century (the British North Borneo Chartered Company) to its recent experience as a training war zone. Most of the candidates who will be running for Congress here are relative newcomers, and will complement the age and experienced of the Peninsulans.


Ice Dragon (Level 18, Supersoldier Lvl 2) –Born 6/12/2009

As cool and calm as his name suggests, this RL Malaysian was made Party President last week. He might be new to the job, but he was taken to it with the gusto of ice dragon in an ice cream factory! Early on in his career, he wrote philosophical works on the value of teamwork, and as a Party President, has already shown that he would rather lead through cooperation and consensus, making him a true representative of our party’s Democratic values. One of his main interests is the Newbie Mentoring program, which he is hoping to revive.

Pastagage (Level 18, Supersoldier Lvl2) –Born 23/1/2010

A refugee who had to flee eFrance after it was conquered by eSpainiards, like many Frenchmen, Pastagage is not ashamed of expression his opinion. He can be considered one of the people who enable DPP to continually reevaluate itself by providing good criticism, and in the last few months came up with interesting ideas to boost the population and increase forum activity. The best by far is his Miss eMalaysian competition, which still awaits contestants.. Last term Pastagage didn’t win a seat in Congress, so please vote for him this term, so Congress would be a more interesting place.

Mr. Aleph (Level 15, not yet Supersoldier) – Born 26/04/2010

Until recently, Mr. Aleph was a homeless bum junkie suffering from the Zombie Virus. Somehow he found himself on the forums, where DPP members Mansour and Clanky managed to help him back to recovery. This inspired him to become an active journalist, where he pursued issues such as the Zombification of eMalaysia and Congress reform. Last Congress term, he won a seat in Sabah, and went on to make a lot of noise in Congress. A bit of a controversy-monger (and probably an attention seeker) he has launched a campaign to make Sabah a Zombie state. Meanwhile, he holds the DPP post of Media Head.

Wingman Hamalee (Level 15, Supersoldier Lvl 2) –Born 25/4/2010

Another newcomer, if we are not mistaken he is also a RL Malaysian. Some of you might already be familiar with his recent ad campaign ‘Serve to Lead’, the only personal ad to hit the eMalaysian media this election. We know little about him as yet, as he is not as active on the forums or media, but his avatar is pretty impressive and he seems to always be laughing. Laughing is good, we like laughing 

Ahmad Faril (Level 19, Supersoldier Lvl 3) –Born 21/8/2009
Another newcomer, although he has been in eMalaysia for longer than the all the other newcomers. A RL Malaysian, he seems to keep a low profile, no doubt doing some spiritual meditation (bertapa) in preparation for his big battle for Congress.

Peace and Freedom Party (PAFP)

You might be wondering … why is he talking about another party all of a sudden?
Well, the truth is, PAFP was set up by Mansour and gang of buddies to fight the menace of the PTO group, Shoes, who have been trying to take over eMalaysia for eons. While it is officially another party, for all intents and purposes, it is actually a twin sibling of DPP, with the same goals and aims. You can consider it DPP’s ATO (anti political take-over) branch. Therefore, for all of you who have yet to join a party, or are considering joining DPP, we encourage you to consider joining PAFP for this election, as it will help strengthen their numbers and keep the PTO-ers out. A vote for PAFP can be considered a vote for DPP and vice-versa. Please contact both the DPP and PAFP headquarters so we can coordinate your vote.

FINALLY, we have an confirmation of our Sarawak candidates. Here they are!

SARAWAK

Sarawak is blessed with miles and miles of lush green rainforest and some of the largest caves in the world. Don’t be fooled by its pristine appearance, as this is also the home of the monster crocodile Bujang Senang, and the delicious Mee Kolok, which will leave you hungry for more! It not only has a colourful variety of ethnicities and people, but also a colourful history. In the 19th century, a British mercenary by the name of Brooke conned the Brunei Sultanate, and started his own White Rajah Kingdom there. Today, it continues to be home to such slick adventurers, only now they are in such of oil instead of heads to shrink. True to the Sarawak tradition, we have fielded an impressive array of candidates who represent the combined heritage of adventure and deep jungle tradition.

THE SHAMAN
Buntak Dayung Bluesavvy (Level 16, Supersoldier Lvl 1) – Born9/4/2010

An up and coming new DPP politician, imbued with the Shamanic forces of nature. A native of Sarawak who is steeped in its ancient lore, Buntak is aided by the power of the Praying Mantis, and already had his first taste of victory in the last Congress election. He might be soft-spoken, but he consistently frequents the media and forum, and often is able to say much with very few words. He will be a welcome presence in the next Congress section, and is a much needed new face for future government post as older citizens start thinking about retirement.

THE HEADHUNTER
Dr. Straatman (Level 13, not yet Supersoldier)- date of (re)birth 4/6/2010

A headhunter in both senses of the word (recruitment man and warrior for PASKAU). Don’t be fooled by his young appearance. A recent assassination attempt on this senior eMalaysian military head (due to a case of mistaken identity) led him to have to reincarnate in a new form. But he is still the same Straatman we all know and love as the leader of Paskau. This will be his second time running for Congress (technically the first), and like Liquid Oxygen in the Peninsular, will provide Congress with much needed expertise in military affairs. We hope we wins a seat and enters the doors of Congress with full guns ablazing!

THE ANCIENT SPIRIT
Tunku Abdul Rahman (Level 19, Supersoldier Lvl 1) – Born 22/10/2009

What is the deceased first Prime Minister of Malaysia doing here, you ask? We hardly know ourselves, even after he has become member of Congress three times, as this member keeps a low profile, and keeps his comment sweet and short. Whether he has come back from the dead or is communicating through the spirit world, we will leave up to our Shamans to decide. All that we can be sure of is that our Congress will certainly benefit from the wisdom and knowledge of a man who fought and won independence for Malaysia from colonial occupation.

THE MAVERICK ADVENTURER
Mr. MALicious (Level 18, Supersoldier Lvl 1) – Born 13/12/2009)

As he has been away on adventures far and wide, we newer members at the DPP media section have not had the chance to know this candidate that well, but from his good sense of humour and sharp wit, it would be great to have him writing for us as well (the few articles in his MALicious MALingers are proof of this). We hope this members buccaneering spirit will provide much needed humour and zest to Congress, and be DPP’s answer to FUP’s Collinar.

THE BOMOH (WITCHDOCTOR)
Ghostmaster (Level 14) – Born 19/5/2010


A bomoh is a Malaysian equivalent of a witchdoctor, who has the power to conjure or banish spirits for good or bad purposes. He effectively combines his bomoh powers in erepublik with more modern medical skills in the RL spirit realm, where he investigates the subtle bodies through Imaging techniques. It is his first time in the political arena (he is DPPs youngest candidate), so last time we saw him, he was understandably nervous.. We hope Ghostmaster will be able to effectively draw on his many magical powers to conjure up a DPP victory this Congress election!
