Defender of the Oppressed

Day 816, 11:13 Published in Ireland Ireland by Anthony Colby

The long awaited war to unite the whole of Ireland is upon us. Today at 12:00 eRep time we will cross the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland in what many here have seen as the ultimate goal of the Irish nation. It turns out that the war will not be what we thought it would be. According to the President up until yesterday this would be an all out battle with Irish soldiers putting forth their best in an attempt to gain experience and level up. Well now it turns out that is not the case. Norway and EDEN see it as a land swap and will not expend any more effort than they have to. That means it will be a short battle. Some of our soldiers may not even get a chance to fight. They may gain more experience in the Malaysian training war.

So now what? What do we do next? The Irish Defense Forces need to fight to improve. Training wars are fine but real action is what the military and populace crave. We need to feel that what we are doing is important, that it is worthy. It needs to be fun too.

So I say let the Irish Defense Forces live up to their name. Let them defend people. Ireland should come to the aid of any nation that is under attack by an aggressor and asks for help.

Ireland seems to be split as to which side in the EDEN-Phoenix war we should take. I say don't choose a side. Don't anger one side or the other by joining and becoming the attacker. Defend against the attacked. Fight the good fight.

We could join the Entente and do this. The Entente nations with the exception of Paraguay are all in Europe and will continue to be invaded from one direction or the other. This will not change. There would certainly be enough action for the IDF.

There are several neutral nations in Europe at this time. Belgium, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria are or were recently all nations that had not joined Eden or Phoenix. Austria in particular since a major invasion is currently going on there would all be nations that Ireland could form an alliance with or send aid to when they need it.

There are many options for Ireland. It is not just EDEN or Phoenix. One or the other. The Entente, SOL or a new alliance are also options that many have not given much consideration to. There are other options that we have not even thought of yet. Put your ideas out there. they may not come to pass but one thing that you say may trigger an idea in someone else that may work. You just don't know what will happen.

But until Ireland does know where we are going there is one thing we can do today. We can let the Irish Defense Forces do what their name implies. They can defend those who need it.
