Hello citizens of the United States,

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine asked me to write an article about Ukraine (in RL and eR as well) for American readers. I hope this article will be interesting for you.

As you know, Ukraine is a country located in Central Europe. Twenty years passed since Ukraine became an independent country. Instead of long "cold war" of USSR and USA, Ukraine pursues a policy of cooperation with many countries of the world. It's no wonder that cooperation of Ukraine and USA achieved significant success.

Among different areas which our countries work together we can remember economic, nuclear safety, environment protection. However, maybe the most significant one is scientific and technological cooperation. About 70 agreements of cooperation in science and technology are signed between Ukraine and other countries. United States is one of the most important partners of Ukraine in this area.

We can remember a huge project "Sea launch", where scientific and technological potentials of USA, Ukraine and Russia were used.

Priority directions of scientific and technological cooperation between Ukraine and United States are materials, biotechnology, high-energy physics, geology (shale gas deposits exploration in Ukraine), space research and nuclear medicine research.

Ukrainian biologists created an atlas of marine landscapes and organisms of Antarctica.
An ocean topography research near Antarctica proved existing of a new oil and gas deposits in this region.

From real world let's move to the world of eRepublik.
In virtual world our counties passed a long way of cooperation too. As we remember, Ukraine as in EDEN alliance and USA was in TERRA. USA was an indirect ally of Ukraine in area of so called TEDEN alliance. Then USA joined EDEN. We fought side by side against TWO and CoT.

Everything changes in real life and changes happened in a game.
Alliances TWO and CoT concentrated their powers almost against EDEN only. It led to significant weakening of our alliance. Some of our partners immediately left alliance not seeing any possibilities. We tried to keep our positions and made tons of damage. However, it became more and more obvious that EDEN is fated to decay. Opponent forces were too strong.

Ukrainian community of that period of time was divided into two groups. First group wanted to leave EDEN as soon as possible. Second group felt the end of EDEN too, however they didn't want to leave old friends. Ukraine left EDEN and was among last few countries which did it. We helped our allies from alliance and continued to keep relations with old friends who became neutral countries.

After EDEN breakup a new question appeared. Ukraine needed to choose what alliance to become a part of. We've made a poll among our community. Most of us chosen TWO. The reason was simple: most of our friends entered TWO or ACT or were TWO-oriented while being neutral countries. We respect the choice of our friends from EDEN who chosen CoT alliance. That decision was better for their national interests.

As you know, Ukraine fights with Hungary for a long time. We had negotiations with our enemy last fall, which gave us nothing. Hungary kept Ukraine erased on map and started a war with Russia. Of course, it was hard for Hungary to fight against two countries. We used this possibility to liberate significant number of our territories from Hungarian occupiers.

This military success gave some arguments to our diplomatists. Ukraine and Hungary singed a NAP, which kept a part of Ukrainian regions under Ukraine and the others under Hungary.

Such divide wasn't good for many Ukrainians. At the end NAP has been broken.

Many people predicted a breakup of TWO after CoT breakup. There was a possibility of new alliances creation. However, it hasn't happened yet.

Today Ukraine is a neutral country that remembers its old friends. Ukraine and United States had signed MPP. It's over now and is not renewed because of difficult situation of Ukraine. Nevertheless we help for those who fought side-by-side with us. Because alliances appear and disappear and friends stay together.

Also I have been instructed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of eUkraine, Kromoff, to firmly extend his cheers to the American citizens.

Except after NAP with Hungary, Ukraine turned around and attacked Russia which along with CoT had helped it gain it's freedom.

Basically profiting from the CoT campaign against Hungary and then turning around and attacking CoT.

Ukraine has a tough geographic position with Poland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey and Russia on it's borders. It has been allies and enemies with all at one point or another, however there was only one period in it's history when it enjoyed freedom so far, until it realizes that it cannot run to the most opportune "bedfellow" to achieve it's goals right now it will keep on being eaten up by one or more of it's bigger neighbours with all of witch Ukraine does not have the greatest of relations.

My advise is leave the BS diplomacy style and pick your poison and stick by it, no one is willing to put their necks out for Ukraine right now and that is the result of Ukrainian policy for a long time, change it without expecting results now, but keep at it and at some point it will give results.

There will be two main groups: Romania/Turkey (Hungary) or Bulgaria/Russia (Poland) with Poland and Hungary possibly being on either side. Trying to use one against the other today and the other vs the first the next day will only lead to the current isolation.

You're right. I think that problem with the eUkarine is that they want to be COMPLETELY FREE, with no regions uccupied, what as we know is impossible - its natural expansion territory of both romania and hungary, IMO Ukraine could have stable 4 regions - Vohlynia, Polisia, Dnipro and Siveria, but only if they would not start to fight in RWs, and if RW would be successful they should do proper NE to help give regions back (look treats of ePoland and eGermany).

I just feel like they like to be erased from the map, and then to do glorious fights against the oppresors :3

For me its just waste of energy bars (=gold id EB would be "traded" for BHs), influence and overall fail of the diplomacy :}

No they should strive to have all their regions free, nothing wrong with that, but definitely not the way they have done it till now.

They have a tough geographic position which at times will push tough choices on them, that is part of the game other countries have worst positions, stable diplomatic position is the first requirement.

Second is when you're in a position where you'll need to receive more help and damage then you can offer to your allies you should be looking for those that values principles and friendship over those valuing damage, bonuses and utilization, Ukraine did the opposite and so the permanent occupation continues for years now.

I agree, but actively burning all energy bars in RWs against Hungary is just bad 😛
Ukraine is only way for eRomania and eHungary to get out of Balkan Powder Keg, and for me its impossible for eUkraine (unless some massive BB would be made) to keep 100% independent, either Hungary or Romania will sooner or later want to get out of Balkans, and eUkraine is their only way.

No matter how brave eUkraine will be, it will allways fall. If they will play good diplomatic game - they will keep few regions, and be able to fight/swap territory with Belarus or fight with Russia. If not, they will be erased from the map for 95% of the time, and be free for 5% of the time, with all the effort devoting to this RWs, and will be seen as Rebels instead of Partners.
