Day 815 - A Few Setbacks

Day 815, 17:38 Published in Canada Canada by Derek Harland

When I wrote my last article two days ago (didn't have time to write one last night, my apologies) EDEN was on top of the world. While China had suffered a loss in Liaoning from the Russian invaders, there had been major wins in Central Anatolia by Greece and in North of Brazil by Poland or Peru, however way you want to call them. However, yesterday EDEN suffered a major loss in North of Brazil. Right after Peru had won the battle, Phoenix started a resistance war in North of Brazil. Poland region swapped with Spain so they could swap with Peru into North of Brazil and defend it better but because there was a RW started, Peru couldn't retreat the battle. All of Phoenix knew that the North of Brazil RW had to be won and sent everything they had there. Unfortunately for EDEN, they managed to pull through.

This was a huge setback for Poland and EDEN who had spent thousands of gold trying to take North of Brazil and get the Polish Empire a high iron region. When it had been won, morale was as high as possible and no one expected the RW to succeed and thought it would've just been a waste of gold on Phoenix's part. But in a rare moment of success, Phoenix pulled through and won the resistance war. The Asian theatre also saw a major loss in the fortified region of Liaoning which had been China's last high iron region that the US successfully liberated from the Iran occupation. These two losses posed serious threats to the success EDEN has had over the past few days in the European campaign and in North of Brazil.

Fortunately, today has seen better fortunes arrive. First off, I would like to applaud the Chinese and allied military strategists for coming up with a brilliant strategy in the Russia/China war. China has retreated all of its regions bordering Russia except Tibet and Beijing. So when Russia attacked Tibet yesterday, China retreated from the region, giving Russia only one further place to attack: Beijing. Beijing has 3500 citizens as well as a Q5 defense system and hospital. This makes attacking it not only very challenging, but also very costly. China has built up an impressive wall in Beijing already so for Russia to keep the initiative on China, they will need to win the battle or continue to spend a very large amount of gold to keep the initiative. Once China gets it back, they shouldn't have too much trouble taking their losses back from Russia with their 5 powerful MPPs in Romania, Japan, Canada, Moldova and Spain. This has been a very clever strategy and has been worked to perfection to help China. Here are the current results:

Beijing
+616254 = China is currently holding this region by 616,254 defence points.

In a rather surprising move, yesterday Croatia invaded the neutral Austrians. They have already conquered Styria, Carinthia and Styria-Carinthia in the war on the Austrians. They have also opened up a new battle in Salzburg today and have left Austria down to just 3 regions. I do not know the reason for attacking Austria but I think it was just a "For the lulz" war to spark interest in Croatia and expand their borders. If their is a deeper motive to the invasion, I have not seen it yet. Hungary also decided to get involved and have attacked the Croatian region of Styria. Both battles are heavily in Croatia's favour at the moment and it won't be long before Austria is completely wiped off the map. Here are the results so far:

Hungary into Styria
+530580 = Croatia is currently holding this region by 530,580 defence points.

Croatia into Salzburg
-162180 = Croatia is currently winning this battle by 162,180 attacking points.

The United Kingdom campaign has stalled heavily and major operations have not taken place in awhile. The US continues to block/maintain initiative on the UK and will do so until they are completely wiped off the map. In an interesting development, Ireland has declared war on Norway and Ireland will take the Northern Ireland region from a willingly retreating Norway. Ireland has long felt slanted by Northern Ireland being apart of the United Kingdom and this is a huge morale boost in Ireland and will also not make the UK very happy. It will be interesting when the next major UK operations start up and we will all keep a close eye.
