Day 794: Indonesia invades South Africa

SUMMARY

For the last several days the military situation between EDEN and Phoenix has remained deadlocked. Following the IP blocking of the nation of Turkey, attacks against Greece have halted. In addition to a total IP blackout of Turkey, numerous senior Turkish tanks have also been banned. In response it appears the Greeks have decided not to take advantage of the rather unfortunate situation the Turks find themselves in. Props to Greece. The other major EDEN powers are taking turns keeping the UK blocked from further harassment attacks and the world situation is developed. On the Phoenix side, Indonesia has become active, attacking Thailand in order to gain a free war with Argentina and then invading the Republic of South Africa.


ASIAN THEATER

Indonesia has been suffering a great deal in the more modern times. Many powerful countries like the USA, Spain and now Poland have instituted military reforms that lowers the importance of powerful tanks and emphasizes the “mass attack” of Q1 wielding mid ranked players. Overall this has been an overwhelmingly successful strategy, particularly against Indonesia. The Indonesian military is completely tank based, and burns through a great deal of Gold. While it has been able to barrel through and defend against the EDEN mass attacks, it has no staying power. Once the Gold is gone Indonesia gets hammered by large margins. This is why they did not contest the provinces in China and the High Iron region of Karnataka. They had already committed their resources elsewhere. In this respect, Indonesia is also not as flexible militarily as countries like Spain and the United States are. When they do get into a position to strike however, watch out.

Yesterday, Indonesia launched an attack and then a retreat on Thai home territory. Many people were wondering just what had been accomplished by this. The answer lay in Thailand’s two MPP’s. One MPP from Malaysia and one from Argentina. Since Indonesia borders Argentina by virtue of its territory in western South Africa, the Indonesians gained a free chain reaction war with Argentina. Now you must be wondering, why do the Indonesians want a free war with Argentina? The answer is Peru, which is presently administered by Poland. To be more specific, Peru’s High Iron region. Argentina can now region swap through their open war with Chile and then immediately region swap the Indonesians over to Peru’s border. After that they can initiate the mass tanking Indonesia is so fond of in conjunction with a similar effort by Brazil. At Present, Peru is only MPP’d with Greece and Poland, so they could be in trouble if the Indonesians steal a march on the rest EDEN.

Before Indonesia can try this however, it seems they are keen to make sure there is no room for interference. With Australia now at war with Indonesia and South Africa’s neutrality teetering, an Indonesian offensive could be jeopardized by a blocking attack against its colonial territory in South Africa. Indonesia relies on the eRepublik equivalent of Blitzkrieg. They win if they can move the pace of battle quickly. If a war prolongs itself, they will lose. By attacking South Africa before making a move against Poland’s colony in South America, Indonesia is able to shore up its frontier. They don’t even have to be serious about taking over South Africa initially. All they need do is keep the country initiative locked.


EUROPEAN THEATER

Following hard assaults by Spain, France has been reduced to the region of Corsica. At this point, the hopes for a French comeback are slim. Corsica is a bottleneck territory with regards to the rest of France. There is only one way forward as the only other region bordering Corsica is the French ally of Italy. Unfortunately for France, the way back into their territory is blocked by Poland, a country the French do not have an open war or MPP stack against. That means if the French want to fight against Poland, they would have to be in Corsica itself to do so. Corsica only possesses a Q4 Hospital, which would by default put the French at a serious disadvantage against Poland. The Spanish and Polish strategy at this point is most likely to leave the French holed up on their Island until they are ready to capitulate. Frankly continued French resistance at this point is foolhardy, as it is strangling their country. They claim they can do just what the USA did and come back from a single region. However, the situation is not the same. The USA played Portugal’s fear of a TO to gain a peace treaty, while deceiving the Indonesians to sign a faulty in game peace treaty before using a massive MPP stack against Indonesia and Russia. France must deal with two countries united in purpose, and a potential advance with no MPP’s against a country far more powerful then France was before they were reduced to a single territory. In short, it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to pull off.


With regards to the rest of Europe, Phoenix is spamming resistance wars to try and see if they can get a ninja tanking effort in one of the occupied regions of either France or Germany.These ninja tanking efforts have so far been successful in Germany, with two regions being returned to German control. In France, the best hope is to win a resistance war against Spain, as this would give the French a fighting position with MPP’s against the Spanish occupation zone. Should that occur though, the Spanish are sure to swiftly wall the new French region off with Poland then counterattack the next day. Both subjects remain conjecture though, as both Poland and Spain have handily suppressed the resistance wars, while at the same time wresting Belgium from the control of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The UK is also reduced to a permanent defensive stance as the hostile EDEN countries that now surround them take turns attacking British territory. The British are entertaining some hope of using their new MPP stack against Poland in order to free Germany. This will remain an impossible dream for the British however, as the UK can be blocked by virtually all of their neighbors. This untenable situation for the British is the result of their own policies, so little sympathy will be gained. On top of changing allies so dramatically, the United Kingdom has invaded every single country that borders them, with the sole exception of the Netherlands.

Also, I am done with hospitals for now. Big props to people like PiginZen and Sytem0101 who made the debate so interesting. To the juvenile people who think I should not have opened debate on a policy that was decided before I was eborn, I have nothing to say.
