Day 48: Portugal Pulls Out of The South

Day 648, 19:35 Published in USA USA by Desertfalcon

To the surprise of many U.S. citizens, Portugal has pulled out of several of the regions they occupied in the southern U.S. following a peace treaty. This peace treaty between the U.S. and Portugal offered more generous terms as Portugal will pull out of all their regions in the U.S. within 14 days for only a 500 gold fee paid over five months. The earlier treaty would of charged us 200 for each medium resource region and 300 for each high region. So far Portugal has made good on their promise to retreat as now the only regions they occupy are Delaware, West Virginia, and Maryland and some of those regions are currently in the transition process. This treaty will greatly help the U.S. in the coming weeks as now there will be one less front to worry about.

The U.S. has also been successful with fighting Indonesia as Indonesia now only holds four American regions. Currently the American strategy appears to be to circle California before making a push into this key state and then making a final assault in Hawaii to eliminate Indonesia from North America. Both Hawaii and California would of had to remain under Indonesian control had the old peace treaty been signed. The only downside to this strategy is that Indonesia would still be able to move through Japan to attack us again but this is something we can't really avoid. Canada would also have to keep blocking Russia as well since if Russia is ever able to start attacking American regions things could get ugly fast.

At this current rate it seems like the war in the U.S. is soon to become a single front war with Russia controlling the northern half and the U.S. in the south. While Indonesia will still be a threat it is still likely that a peace agreement between them and the U.S. can be reached. If a peace treaty is signed between Indonesia and the U.S. then Russia will lose the MPP with Indonesia they have active in the war against the U.S. and would be at a huge disadvantage. If this would occur it would just about force Russia to either sign a peace treaty or watch the U.S. take back all their regions while they get stuck with nothing.

In Spain the regions of Basque country and Castillia La Mancha have fallen to the resistance. While Spain has been able to liberate many of their regions since being taken over they still haven't managed to liberate a high resource region or a region that would jump start their economy. Canada is still fighting to get their regions back as they have invaded Nunavut again however they are pretty far behind in both the conquest battle and the resistance war. Sweden has also joined in to help block Hungary and has attacked one of the regions Hungary has controlled in Denmark, once again this attack doesn't appear like it will succeed. There is however, one resistance war that is close in Oregon. The battle is in the city with ten hours left to go so it could go either way. Indonesia will have the advantage though as the battle will end at a time that is better for them.
