Day 40: Spain Returns With La Rioja

Following a successful resistance war Spain is back on the map with their newly liberated region of La Rioja. The region itself isn't worth very much however it will allow Spain to continue to exist and have elections while at the same time it closes their active wars with France and Brazil. With the wars closed it appears that Spain will be around a bit longer and possibly liberate a few more region as the days pass, as of right now France has not proposed war with Spain and will probably adopt the same strategy they used in Canada. Speaking of Canada a resistance war in Alberta was successful today after a last minute tanking operation proved successful for the resistance. Alberta has a good sized population and was one of the Q5 hospital regions in Canada before being captured by France.
Down south in the U.S. the region of New Hampshire has fallen and Russia has launched an offensive into Massachusetts which looks to be successful. If Massachusetts does in fact fall it will reduce the U.S. to just Maine and Florida with Maine likely coming under attack tomorrow. There is still a great deal of speculation over whether or not PEACE will attack Florida due to the wall now topping one million damage points and the fact that if PEACE won it would close all active wars (assuming they took maine first). Many believe they will just keep us held up in Florida and let our economy collapse as we won't have any high resource regions and we would have a rough time fighting in RWs since our population will mostly be in Florida. These are reasonable points but it is worth noting that if PEACE attacks Maine tomorrow (the 22nd), they could attack Florida on the 23rd and if successful they would have the U.S. completely conquered by the 24th. This would be the worst time to be completely conquered because we would still be able to bounce back and liberate a region via a resistance war however we won't be able to elect a congress on the 25th and therefore we will go one month without a congress. Without a congress there will be no way to renew our MPPs meaning they would all expire and PEACE could easily just take us out and everyone who wanted citizenship to the U.S. would get it automatically since there would be no one to approve it, this leaves us wide open to PTOs for a month.
F/E did have some success in eastern Europe today as Croatia was able to hold off both the Hungarian and Serbian assaults on their regions. Currently there are no battles on this front and whether PEACE decides to continue their assault this time around remains to be seen. F/E also was successful in turning back the Turks in the ongoing war between Greece and Turkey and have moved back on the offensive this time assaulting the Aegean Islands. Currently the wall is deep into the underground and Greece will likely emerge victorious. Greece has experienced a surge in population lately as many refugees from Spain and the U.S. have moved there in order to continue the fight against PEACE.

Your thoughts on no congress is what me and another player were talking about and we came to the same conclusion that's what they would try to do.
What are the chances if PEACE leaves Florida that the US can counter attack? Florida borders 3 regions, all occupied territories (Georgia, Alabama, and Galicia) So not only could attacks be initiated without activating MPP's, but the US could keep Portugal and France on the defensive using PEACE's own tactics.
If we have 1 state we still have 10 senators. 2 states is 20 senators.
I hope PEACE attacks Florida. That would make such an epic battle.

You are wrong, you can renew your MPPs even without a congress. It's the president who proposes them and he can vote them in 1:0. And other presidents can propose an MPP to you, too.

Don't worry about finding yourselves without a Congress: the president would propose the MPPs AND vote them.
The worst case scenario would be for PEACE to stop attacking, leaving the US with one or two states and with all the wars open.
Based on what happened until now I'm afraid most of the US players don't understand the mechanics of the game enough to organize an effective Resistance like Spain did. Case in point: the now defunct peace treaty aimed at "saving" the US. The American president and the members of the Congress (supposedly all of them experienced players) didn't pay any attention to the fact Canada popped-up back on the map after being completely overrun.
A well written summary of what has happened, as always. I would be lost in this game without articles like this, keep up the good work!

I actually would like to see PEACE take out Maine and then try to fight us. A one million wall? It would take tanks just to bring the wall down, not counting all the people behind the wall that can do an assload of damage. It would truly be a battle of epic proportions.

There's a bug in the game.. When eSouth africa fell congress could still vote and propose laws even though the country didnt exist anymore. Was like that right up to the next congress elections. May come in useful should the us be completely conquered..
