Day 35: Russia Declines America's Surrender

Day 635, 17:22 Published in USA USA by Desertfalcon

The past week or so the American congress had been debating on one of the most important issues that has ever come up, signing a peace treaty with PEACE. The debate lasted for days and many valid points were raised however in the end congress voted 15-7 to accept the terms outlined in the surrender. The treaty would of allowed the U.S. to fight on for its allies through MPPs and given us the option to buy back our regions at a price of 300 gold for a high region and 200 gold for a medium region. Despite passing through the U.S. congress and being signed by the American president the president of Russia refused to sign it claiming that 300 gold was not enough and thus the treaty is dead. For those of you wondering I voted no on the treaty due to the fact that we would lose a great deal of respect with our allies and I somewhat expected PEACE to pull a hat trick at the last second to make our congress look foolish.

Now however, is not the time to debate with each other over the treaty as that time has passed and we must now prepare ourselves for a final stand which will likely come before the next congress elections. Yesterday Russia took the region of New York, one of the highest populated regions in the country without a Q5 hospital and earlier today Russia attacked Vermont despite the peace talks that were going on at the time. This could be it for our non fortress states as if Vermont falls Russia will only be two days away from taking the rest of the north east and knocking us down to just New Jersey and Florida.

One of the points raised in favor of the treaty was that if we did not sign it PEACE could just let us have Florida and New Jersey which would hurt our economy due to the lack of resources and companies. This could very well be PEACE's plan as it would weaken us and make it much harder for us to come back then if we were to just try and RW a few regions however we will have to wait a few days to see if this is the case. Right now Portugal only borders two regions, New Jersey and Florida, because of this they haven't attacked any new regions over the past couple of days, it is likely that they will attack New Jersey first since it is smaller then Florida. They could also have New York attack New Jersey once they take out the rest of the north east and do a region swap with Indonesia to make it so Indonesia could attack Florida. If they were to do this they could just simply alternate who is attacking in the two fortress states to stay on the offensive as long as they wanted to pour gold into the battle. Needless to say this would not be good for the defensive effort.

Things are still looking bad in Spain as France continues to roll across central Spain. Currently France shares a border with every Spanish region and will likely secure the entire northern half of Spain later today. Spain will also likely be forced into defending a fortress state to the end as French forces are circling around Madrid, the highest populated region in Spain. Spain will most likely have to make a stand in the Balearic Islands if they have any hopes of protecting Madrid as that is their other Q5 region and due its size it will probably come under attack right before Madrid. Stay tuned for more daily updates.
