Paying Off on a Bet

The month before last, August, for my third successive run for Congress, when I found I'd been matched up against an opposing S.E.E.S. Party candidate I felt I could not beat I asked my host Party to move me to another region. There were shouts of "chicken" and the like, my explanation that this was normal pre-election shuffling fell on deaf ears. My chosen replacement in that region, and I in my new assigned region, both beat our S.E.E.S. opponents, but I suffered a month of catcalls and berating comments about being scared and of manipulating the election process.
Then last month, September, Emerick (aka gagah) was assigned to run against my candidate, former POTUS Scrabman. When Emerick/gagah was shifted at the last minute to another region, his new opponent was also one of my candidates-- a political unknown named Kishvier.
Positive that this shift was made specifically to put Emerick/gagah in a position to win, I publicly challenged Emerick/gagah that he was a chicken-- same as me, afraid to lose and so moved to face easy opposition. When he claimed his Party simply needed someone to run in that region, I bet him that if this were true he would direct his followers to vote elsewhere and he would lose big to the unknown upstart. I bet that if he only got a scant few votes, I would publish a positive S.E.E.S. Party and Militia article in my newspaper.
Whether Emerick/gagah actually had no desire to gain a Congress seat, as he claimed, or if it was so important that he make me eat crow, my boy Kishvier won with Emerick/gagah receiving only two votes. This article is to pay that debt.

What I present to you here today is a little mix of material gleaned from interviews with S.E.E.S. Party President (called the Grand Vizier) rainy sunday and Party leader Nicholas Ryan, along with bits you'll find at the eRep Wiki pages for S.E.E.S., Dio Brando, and Emerick.

From the Party Wiki page: S.E.E.S. prides itself in its superiority over every other party in the country, including its activity, it's membership's pride, and its superior members. Because the party was founded by a group of old citizens who were devout Dioists, they believed that a strict lifestyle led by the best and brightest in the community, and led with an iron fist, was the optimal way to lead a successful country in eRepublik. Because of this belief, they created a strict party structure to lead their fellow ideologues to victory.

Nicholas Ryan explains, "The idea behind the S.E.E.S. Party is that we are a politico-terrorist movement formed on the premise that roleplay-based gaming had caused the United States to flounder and that the solution was game-based roleplay. Therefore our organization follows tenants of Dioism and ultra-nationalism."
"As most people know, the core group who originally developed S.E.E.S. is now gone (to Pakistan). Those of us who now serve in the roles they developed try to follow the example they set and the ideas they put forward. Emerick is still Emerick and Emerick is still Great. The day to day operations are covered by Rainy Sunday, as PP; Max Wallingbottom III as the director of our Militia and most of our companies, myself as Elections Coordinator and BoxOfAIDS in Kommunications."

The S.E.E.S. Militia are called Super Soldiers, and I was directed to speak with Max Wallingbottom III about them, but did not do so. What I do know about the is that they have perfected the commune system of having members work for its own Companies in order to supply their weapons and food at cost. The US Congress budget line for Militia funding is small, that amount being divided among four Party Militias, so what the gets from the government is truly chump change. I have not seen any numbers on battlefield damage delivered by the , but I am sure they are a fighting force of considerable firepower and organization.

Dioism is the official religion of the S.E.E.S. Party. While the hard core Dioists of S.E.E.S. have gone to Pakistan to reform that government in his image, the Party remains zealous in following the teachings of Dio Brando.
"We are still devout, never doubt it. We represent Dio's will in America," Nicholas Ryan explains. "Dio is Glorious because Dio was the first to take a a dry and more-or-less mediocre browser game and give it a story and to build an empire. Everything you see in the New World, you can thank Dio for. I've no doubt this game would have died if not for he. More over, that is why S.E.E.S. is so closely associated with Dioism. It is our goal to do for Americans what he did for all the World."

● Der Führer is Emerick. Every member is expected to show the utmost respect for Der Führer and must follow his every order, no matter how they may feel about it.
● The Education Director will obviously be the director of our education programs. He will direct "Emerick's Youth" which is the nickname the recipients of this program.
● The Third Bylaw of the Brotherhood of the Specialized Elite Execution Squad states: "Be a brother to your ally and be a demon to your enemy. With your allies, always treat them as a brother- you never double-cross a brother, you never let him down. With your enemies, make them regret ever having crossed your path. Hound them like a dog out of hell, and never let up. Always bite to break skin, and never show mercy. Mercy is weakness, and a clever enemy will take advantage of it."

Any resemblance of the S.E.E.S. Party, its chosen imagery, nomenclature, ideology or methodology to RL Nazism is purely coincidental, and any reference to equating S.E.E.S. to it will be taken by game Admins as racism; articles are deleted and forfeit points are levied.

S.E.E.S. has a more aggressive approach to things than other parties by using methods that go against the usual moral high horse. An aggressive approach allows SEES to get things done more efficiently than taking the time to think about others feelings over the internet.
Nicholas Ryan explains, "It's experiential. I've explained it any number of times. Those that are revolted by it aren't going to join no matter what I say and those who get the joke join us. Those that don't get the joke cry. It's a conversation that's just not worth having."
