Current Political Scene

Day 396, 19:30 Published in Switzerland USA by Mercer

I thought with the upcoming congressional elections it would be helpful for all you undecided voters out there if you got to know the political parties better. So first think you should know is that we have two political parties (well technically three if you count the Switzerland Democratic Party, but we'll get into that later). We have the Swiss Neutrality Party and the Estonia Socialist Party.

So let's get acquainted with the Swiss Neutrality Party (SNP) first. So first thing you need to know is that these were the guys that really tried to put Switzerland back on the map. It was through some of their more active members work and planning that Switzerland is even in existence right now. But you may be asking: what exactly do they plan to do with the country now that its freed? Well basically, their main goal is to build Switzerland back up, so that it is both economically and militarily (even though I've been told the military is to be used strictly for defensive purposes) stronger than it was before. While they do acknowledge that it will be harder because of Switzerland's raw material distribution, but plans for fixing these problems, I've been told, are in the works and solutions to them will hopefully be seen in the party's upcoming press releases. As for the upcoming election, they intend to, as stated by party president Big Brother, "Secure a congressional majority so that we can easily and without any interference tweak the current taxes, enact laws and gain access to our treasury. At this early point, the most important thing is unity; we cannot afford bipartisanship just yet." And finally they are willing to except the Estonian Socialist party into the political system and hope they will "contribute their ideas and offer their own solutions to the many issues facing our reborn nation."

Now let's move onto the Estonian Socialist Party or the ESP (I'm not really sure about their real abbreviation is so I'm just going to use that one.) Well I don't really know much about them, but from what I can tell, they are using Switzerland as a temporary home and plan to move out once Estonia is created. And maybe once Estonia is created, the ESP wants to have good relations with Switzerland. They also are prioritizing the defense of Switzerland and plan to keep it a independent country by making and maintaining good relations with all of the surrounding countries. As for the economy they plan to call more people to Switzerland so that they can increase the workforce size. And for the congressional election, they have proposed four candidates this far, however it is unknown (by me) how many seats they plan to win.

And now for the Switzerland Democratic Party. I really have no clue what is going on with this party. I mean every-time I click party link I get something like this...
