CP Manifesto Part 1 - An Introduction

Day 1,107, 16:32 Published in Ireland Ireland by John Gormley

Good evening eIreland. I am John Gormley and I have the privelege to announce my intention to run for the office of Country President of eIreland on December 5th. 2010. I am running on behalf of The Irish Freedom Party (IFP) and I currently have official support from Saoirse (a sincere thanks to them btw).

My manifesto will be released in four parts as follows:
1: An Introduction: An introduction to my campaign and a brief biography.
2: Core Issues and Ministries: This will detail my opinions on central topics such as finance, military and foreign affairs.
3: Fringe Issues and Ministries: Will detail my thoughts on less significant issues such as community and so on.
4: National Goals: A confirmation and explanation of the National Goals I have set.

Before I start on the current article, I'd like to say I am trying to put together a prospective Government at the moment. I have people in mind already for most positions, but please PM me if you feel you may be overlooked though you can contribute well to Government business.

Biography:
I think most CP manifestos open with the candidate jumping straight into the issues but I would like to do things slightly differently. I will hold off on the issues until later articles, and just tell you all about me because I hope ordinary citizens will appreciate the simplicity and personal honesty of it.
To begin with, I am a 21-year old student living in Cork and studying in University College Cork.
I joined eRepublik in March 2009 after seeing a banner in a different game. At first my citizen would have been a sort of humourous imitation of a real-life John Gormley who most of you probably know. The novelty soon wore off but I stuck with the citizen nonetheless.
It was a typical slow start for a new citizen - only logging in for a minute each day to work/train and that's it. But slowly my attraction to the game grew. When I joined my first party things took off and I have never looked back. I was a member of Ireland First up to about June 2009, getting one Congress term and joining the Irish Defence Forces. I then joined the IFP and, aside from very brief spells in other parties, I have been a member since.
In the time since, I have achieved much politically - 8 more Congress terms, several Ministries and I have led the IFP for 4 separate mandates.
I could mention a lot more and tell you loads of stories about my time in this game but frankly it's mostly irrelevant. So, I'll sum up the relevant points:

-After 21 active months in the game, I am undoubtedly experienced enough to run eIreland.
-The fact I have spent so long serving eIreland shows my loyalty and dedication to the cause.
-My achievements thus far display that I have the ability and intelligence required for the postion.

So, please vote for me on December 5th., because I can't possibly do worse than the real John Gormley... 😃
