Country Top Tens #9

Day 2,256, 00:06 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by The Equalist

Here is the ninth edition, and perhaps the most interesting since the first two (when the admins implemented changes that drastically changed the outcome of battles). Empires rise, countries are collapsing, and populations in some countries have unexpectedly changed, for better or worse.

As expected, the fall of TWO will usher in an era of uncertainty and change. But what is surprising is the rate of the change. For starters, Hungary has had a complete reversal of its decline, becoming an empire once more. They, along with Poland, join Serbia and Romania as the empires of eRepublik. But Serbia, which for the last month has been an unstoppable powerhouse, has had a sudden drop in power points. Meanwhile, Spain, once seen as a candidate for an empire in the near future, has lost almost half of its points in one week. Argentina and Chile also have had major changes, with major increases there.

Coincidentally, there have also been radical changes in some countries in population. It would appear that Argentina and Brazil, which at the end of last year and beginning of this month lost around half its population, is in the beginning of a baby boom. Will this trend continue? This increase in Latin America is not consistent. In fact, Peru, ranked #10 last week, has fallen to #16, losing 30% of it's population in one week. The UK has had its biggest drop in population in recent history, with a 9% loss in one week.
