and Some Notes on the Contest Itself
The contest I started in my last article has now finished.
AND THE WINNERS ARE:
1. The Advertiser
(for the article with the most votes overall)
Thedillpickl for his article Friends, which got 61 votes. (as he requested in contest article, his prize gold will be sent to the runner-up, which is CRoy).
2. The Quiet One
(for the highest voted article from a paper with less than 100 subs)
Agent Washington for her article Irony, who, with 90 subs, got 31 votes. (as she requested, her prize gold will be sent to ST6).
3. The Up-and-Coming
(for the highest voted article from a player less than 6 months old)
Mike Ontry, the man who inspired this contest, for his article What am I most proud of?. Mike was eBorn on June 19, 2011.
Some miscellaneous thoughts
This was a fun contest. I was actually surprised to get so many entries, and to get entries from people like CRoy and Blank Keating (ok, I did badger Blank a bit to write one...).
The timeline was still a bit long, even after I shortened it. I don't know why I thought a week originally, but I came to the conclusion that it would be hard to hold people's attention for that long, and I was right. It was hard to keep it interesting even just for this long.
3 people fit into the less-than-100 subs category, and 2 people fit the less-than-6-months-old category, which is one of the main things I was worried about when I created the contest.
All in all, this was a pretty good format for a contest. I plan on running another one very shortly, but if there are any other contest makers out there, just remember to make it shorter.

It is hard to know how long the contest needs to be. You want to give enough time to enter an article and enough time to vote but you don't want to exceed the life span of the article. Looking forward to more.
