Congressmen GO!

Day 423, 07:03 Published in Thailand Thailand by Guy Kilmore

Last week, I outlined the basic tax structure that I wished to see in Thailand. Jack Roberts posted an interesting article that discussed the role of taxes in eRepublik. We are also discussing shortages of food and other supplies. Now Jack proposed a donation of gold to the Central Bank of Thailand. This will help us make some much needed business transactions. I thank him for responding to this request. I have seen nary a congressman respond to my request for a change in taxes. I would like to see the following proposals:

Gifts -- 5% across the board
Moving Tickets -- 5% across the board
Housing -- 5% across the board
Iron -- 5% across the board
Oil -- 5% across the board

This is a starting point. I want the chance to hopefully build some local businesses and also stimulate some imports. The current tax structure is killing us on the import front unfortunately. This is a starting point for us to correct some of the issues in our country and strengthening the baht. I am hoping that once industry develops we can look at increasing these tax levels to basically get some of the excess baht off the market. I feel that if we start at higher levels we will choke off the potential of a thriving industry or kill one already in existence, we need to ease into it.

Now, I would love to make this happen, but I need a congressman to propose these changes to open up a vote. I implore you to do so, I know that I and another congressman have discussed the Gift proposal and I hope to vote on that legislation soon. If you disagree with this structure, please take the time to discuss why and get these concerns out in the open.

I would hate to have to start sending messages to individual congressmen and their mothers, so please, for the sake of your moms, start those proposals. (I also promise to post a picture sometime this afternoon)
