Congress - The begining of change

Day 850, 19:30 Published in USA USA by Necrosis

Good evening, America.

First of all, some music.

Not really relevant, but I like the picture and I said the word change in the article title.

I’m not going to start what should be, like all congressional platforms, a plethora of fake promises and general ill informed statements, not with the standard ‘hi vote for me’ rubbish, but rather a story.

I’m going to have to preface this story with a brief introduction of who I am, and what I have done in the game, I guess, which then leads to the point I’m getting at.

I’ve been playing this game a while now (over two years). I spent most of that time not paying much attention to the game, two clicking through beta, and the first 7-8 months of V1, until I got the chance to go to a small country, and help build them from the ground up. As a result, I spent a little over 2 months in the Philippines, doing stuff here and there, nothing of any real importance, just keeping the country running, and dealing with TO threats most elections. During this time I was also involved in political intrigue in the eUK; long story short here, I was MoFA over there when the country drifted to PEACE, and rejected Fortis.

Then I went insane, threw that account away, and attempted to quit (not my greatest hour). Having to deal with this game for 12+ hours a day is no simple thing. So naturally I started again, and within a few months ran for PM of the eUK; and lost, as GLaDOS (the person who beat me), has no problem reminding me constantly. Anywhoo, I became the Minister of defence and foreign affairs over there for 2 months, and did some stuff in PEACE before it died as well; military stuff mainly, with a little diplomacy thrown in for good measure. 16+ hour days in some cases, dealing with people who didn’t want to improve, didn’t want to do anything of any worth. Eventually I quit after 2 months in the job; my university grades were falling, and I just couldn’t be bothered dealing with the eUK. A week or two later, I got asked to come over to the USA; a big switch, from being one of the guys who ultimately lead to the USA’s reduction to Florida during the summer.

So, here is the main point of this story; why did I come over? It’s simple really. In the USA I saw a country who’d been at the brink of destruction, who in a time of need became a military powerhouse, through sheer will and effort alone. There is no way I could not respect this resurgence; having dealt with a country with no will to better itself, the prospect of moving over appealed to me. Naturally my arrival was subject to no small amount of suspicion; to be quite honest I probably shouldn’t have been given citizenship within 24 hours of me moving over. I spent the next few months busier than I had been with real life, playing other games, going out, and just generally enjoying not playing eRep 12+ hours a day.

During this time the country slowed down. It stopped trying to win, stopped being awesome, and started to suck. We started debating about whether or not Q2 hospitals were a good idea, then got bored of that and spent a month on import taxes. Great. The stagnation continued, until recently, when various people who shouldn’t have been given citizenship, got given it. This could have ended terribly; it did not, this time. Next time we might not be so lucky.

So here I am, the story over. It wasn’t even a cool story I’m afraid. The conclusion? I’m here to unscrew congress. I’m not a nice guy, I’m not an approachable guy. I’m here to kick ass and chew gum. And I’m all outta’ gum. I’m going to spend the month doing what I do best, being awesome and fixing problems. The plan starts with fixing the main symptom of complacency in this country; why in the hell do we seem to give citizenship to literally anyone? When we do stupid things like that, how are we supposed to be awesome?

I’m not going to make a return to 12+ hour days doing things. Heck, theres even a few days in the next month when all I’ll have is phone internet (shock horror I have a real life~). This doesn’t mean that I can’t use my depressingly large amount of experience in this game to make things better; far from it. This country is going to become great once again, and I’ll be here yelling at people to make it so the entire way. I wasn’t even planning on running for congress this month, until recent events. Someone needs to help sort this mess out, guess I’m going to be one of those someones.

tl;dr version; I'm going to kick some gorram ass
