Congress Elections: USWP In Control, Libs in Trouble

Day 1,503, 22:05 Published in USA USA by Tosh O'Point

Congressional elections were nearly a week ago, but I’ve been out of town so today I finally got the chance to break down the numbers. My initial conclusions are that the USWP were the big winners and the only ones to have truly effective voting, the NCP is gaining legitimacy, and the Libs are slipping.

Based on the number of votes cast for each party, we can see that only the USWP got a higher percentage of seats than votes, but that no party had largely disproportional results. This means that if seats were doled out based on nation vote percentage, not individual state races, the ranking would be the same, but the USWP would have less seats and all other parties a few more. These next few graphs will show that of all the major parties, only the USWP spent more votes on winners than losers. From a purely democratic standpoint, the USWP is bad because they are manipulating and controlling the elections. From a competitive standpoint, the USWP is winning because they have figured out the best way to play the game. In my opinion, encouraging competition is more fun than protecting democracy, and the point of any game is to have fun. The other parties need to step up their activity in recruiting active and mobile voters; in particular the Libs need to stop the hemorrhaging of voters out of their party. As you will see below, the US voter base grew by a nominal 6 people, but the Libs lost 69 voters (down nearly 35% from November) while the USWP gained 70 (up 22😵.
