@Rolo, you're the one who should be bitter, you fail so bad you need to buy your votes.

Maybe all the top parties should get together and make sure the best congressman get elected. The ones that really want to show up and make positive change..

They can arrange the vote in such a way that the best the country has to offer get elected, regardless of party. Perhaps an even split amongst the top 5 parties?

I actually agree with you when you say congress is useless, but then again so is our constitution. Government reform is needed top to bottom.

I do take offense to you blaming the general public for electing based on name recognition. There are a lot of strategic votes placed late in the game to get party numbers up. The blame can be equally placed on strategic voting teams and side deals made among parties.

It's unfortunate that you've chosen now to call congress out instead of when your votes were failing to gain interest from people. Perhaps you should have acted sooner.

Code-Y: You didn't actually just say that did you? Rolo was a thief, plain and simple. While I may agree that some of congress is inactive, that does not make me a hypocrit for going against a lying scum pile like Rolo. His idea of an active congress was to put as many people whom he wanted in there so they could do what he/they wanted. That is not someone to admire or be in favour with regardless of any truth in a small porition of their message.

agreed the system is broken, SVT lead to a congress full of medal hunters who don't give a crap. Party Presidents should be more vigilant about who they are sending SVT votes to.

Just lower the quorum

Max lowering the quorum is a wimp out and saying that useless f***ing assholes are OK. It doesn't solve the real problem.

Ok then another option could be to allow citizen to post in ODC, like some has proposed before (I think about only_atoms for exemple). If the elected congressman can't do theirs jobs properly and bring new ideas to keep congress active, I'm sure they can be a bunch of citizens who would like to participate to the politic affair. This could also be a good guideline for voters and PP to know for who to vote and direct their SVU.

There will always be a good proportion of congress who are only getting elected for the gold. There is little eCanada can't do to avoid that. I know that only_atoms already has proposed a system of delegates. This could be a solution.

Or more simple than that. Why not add to the duties of Speaker and his deputy to send forum's PM to all congressmen for all votes to remember them to vote? This has already been done before for important vote and each time the quorum has been reach.

Again you are evading the problem, not fixing it Max. It's up to the public and possibly PPs to see what is going on, or NOT. Everyone looks to one person to solve everything but that IS NOT THE ANSWER. The answer is for people to see for themselves, use their own judgement. Everyone has a mind they just need to use it.

Some people fail at treating this game like a job but do have plenty of fun playing 'win the election.' I can't rightly blame some of the kids for enjoying the good part while slacking off on the dry part.

And thus there needs to be consequences for not voting. Either by the general public knowing who the inactives are so they can not vote for them. Or through game mechanics where if you missed a certain percentage of votes the previous congress term you are unable to run in the next term. The game mechanics one can also be arranged by the PP's. They get a list of there congress members and the percentage of times they actually vote for bills. Then they themselves do not put them on the ballots.

In the end the PP's just need to be more diligent if they hope to actually make a difference in the country.

...Or, PP could just designe...WHIPS! Yeah, I know, what a crazy idea!
