Communiqué #9: We Too Have Been Recuperators

Day 1,561, 21:12 Published in Spain United Kingdom by Johnobrow

Throughout e-history, self described radicals have scoured actual proletarian history for symbols of revolt and resistance to adopt in the spectacular arena that is eRepublik. As a result these symbols have been drained of all their meaning and power. We have converted them into a wholesome food for the spectacle to sell back to us - without even having to be asked.

It is a mark of our alienation from our own history - the history of people fighting to win back their lives - that we do not find it absurd, or even offensive, that we have called ourselves names such as The Internationale, used terms such as 'commune', and used symbols such as the circle-A. No matter how 'radical' our rhetoric, or 'innovative' our programs, we should be rolled in manure for such pretentiousness.

We have turned eRep into a shop window full of the images of revolution. We have turned revolution into fancy dress, a roleplay revolution, where appearance is a substitute for being.

A revolution forgotten is preferable to a revolution reified and recuperated. Anything that does not encourage the termination of e-life, terminates real life. Anything that contributes to eRep contributes to boredom and constitutes dead time.

e-Revolution is counter-revolution.
