First we explore possible impacts to Commune organizing brought about by V2. Then we present a proposal for a transnational commune structure. (en español-castellano)

What Challenges do Communes face in V2?

The eRepublik Insider has completed its outline of what the new V2 has in store for the economic module. The changes that are coming down the pipeline are going to have a profound effect on how communes run when v2 goes live, both immediately when it starts and in the long term. I would like to outline some of the issues that commune workers and directors are going to need to think about if they hope to make a smooth transition.


Day 1 Issues

Professions – On the first day of V2, every citizen of the New World is going to have to re-spend their skill points only now there will be more skill areas. Raw materials are going to stay the same so it is likely that raw material workers will simply spend their points on raw material skill. Manufacturing is going to be split into sub-skills and require combinations of different skills to create products. It will therefore be important that a discussion occurs among the commune workers about what skills are needed and who will specialize in what skill depending on what manufactured goods your commune produces. Without this planning, you may find that some commune workers do not have a place to work in your commune or that you are lopsided in one skill area or another.

Company Transformations – On the first day of V2, the commune is going to need to make some choices about what companies they run. Wood, diamonds and gifts are going to be done away with and in their place titanium and stone, helicopters, artillery and tanks will be in place. Titanium is going to be used for some or all of the four new weapons and stone will simply replace wood. It has not been discussed how the transformation of companies will take place, but since gift companies may become one of a couple options, it is likely that the manager of gift companies will be able to choose. If your commune supports a militia, then this decision will need to take into account what kind of weapons you plan to use.

Product Customizations – Also on day 1 of V2, it looks like the commune will need to decide how to customize their products so as to maximize the benefit of their workers. All manufactured goods are now going to require finding a balance between at least two factors. Food, for instance, will have ingredients and packaging. Better ingredients means more wellness gained, better packaging means more happiness gained. The commune will have to figure out how to design food that will benefit everyone or if that cannot happen, then communes may need to think about operating two food companies in order to cover all bases. Every other product has even more customization areas and will therefore be even more complex.

None of the issues above would be much of a problem if we were given the opportunity to experiment or learn from others mistakes but it appears as though everyone will be thrown into it all at once and that these decisions will have to be made before anyone can work.


Long-term Issues

Time Management – V2 is going to change how we work. Instead of receiving a daily wage, workers will now need to decide how many hours they are going to work in a day and wages will be done hourly. That means that if you were used to paying the 1USD min wage as your official wage, you will now be paying much more than that in a day. But on the other hand, being able to adjust work hours gives commune workers more control over the conditions of work. For instance, a commune might decide to produce only enough for their own consumption and a bit of a surplus for a rainy day or expansion. In that case, the hours required by the commune for each worker to work could be lowered and more time would be available for studying skills or rest for wellness and happiness.

Wellness/Happiness – Finding the right balance between work and rest, different kinds of food and other factors are going to be an ongoing challenge for communes. Since the hospital high-wellness exploit has been fixed, many communes are already facing this issue but it promises to become more challenging as it increases in complexity with the addition of happiness.

Non-Interchangeability of Workers: Professions Re-visited – As it stands right now, it is easy to move workers from one company to another because there are only the 3 professions. With the addition of more manufacturing professions, communes will have a much harder time adjusting production to its needs and recruiting new workers. Communes may need to devise a plan for how to diversify their individual members’ skills while sacrificing a minimal amount of production. If in V2 professions can be studied outside of work hours, then it will simply be a matter of ensuring all workers have time to study different skill sets.

I can foresee some other challenges that may arise down the line in relation to taxes, donations, and international trade but without the eRepublik team confirming that these changes will be made in V2, they are merely speculation at this point.

An Official Proposal from the Socialist Freedom Party of America

We at the SFP have always tried to make, and keep, good relations with all of the various Socialist Parties of eRepublik, no matter their size or stature, and we believe that we have been largely successful in doing so. That being said, it is our belief that in order to remedy the problem of finding and recruiting enough Socialist leaning players to thrive and prosper in the capitalistic game mechanics of eRepublik, we must come together and function as a single movement.

This is especially true with the coming switch to V2 and the current wellness problems we are all experiencing thanks to the new hospital rules. In the face of the challenges ahead for all eRepublik players, and doubly so for eRepublik Socialists, we strongly believe that now is the time to do exactly that. Now is the time for us to organize in such away that we can all benefit from the unique advantages that several Socialist Parties can provide when working together out of their respective nations.

So without further ado, we would like to introduce to you a proposal for the Occidental Communal Trade Organization, or the OCTOcom.


What is the OCTOcom?

The OCTOcom is a multinational communal network that is centralized under a single eRepublik Org and functions as a single entity. It will be ran by an international board of directors comprised of representatives from each participating party, or organization in special circumstances. At this time, the OCTOcom will only include nations that have Socialist Parties, or non-partisan Socialist Organizations, in the Western Hemisphere. (North and South America, etc)
If a party, or org, agrees to participate in the OCTOcom, it will function as a separate, but necessary, part of the whole.
The idea of the OCTOcom is to create a “transnational commune.” Instead of basing all units of industry in a single nation ran, normally, by a single party, the OCTOcom will spread industry out amongst its participating parties’ nations, therefore taking advantage the availability of several different high resource regions, and a larger workforce, all at the same time. For example, one nation will be responsible for providing the OCTOcom with grain, while another manufactures food. One will be responsible for providing iron, while another manufactures weapons, and so on and so forth.


What are the benefits of participation?


Each participating party will have access to several high resource regions without having to send party members abroad or resorting to running capitalist companies to extract resources overseas. For example, by having a participant in, lets say a high diamond region, all participants will benefit by having access to gifts. By having a participant based in a high iron region, again, all will reap the benefits.
By being a part of the OCTOcom your party can keep its membership at home, therefore keeping your influence in the political arena of your respective nations, and still be able to take part in, and benefit from, an internationally populated mass-commune, such as the OCTOcom.

It is our belief that by organizing on an international scale in this manner, the OCTOcom will be able to efficiently provide its members with all of the benefits usually provided by a regular commune, but it will do so more efficiently. So your members will have guaranteed high wellness and access to everything they will need to survive and thrive in eRepublik.


What are the Functions of the Board? What is its structure?


The International Board of Directors, or the IBD, will be comprised of one elected representative from each participating party or organization. This board will run the OCTOcom through a democratic system, and out of a single eRepublik org. It will be responsible for the distribution of goods, such as food and gifts, to workers via elected positions, the oversight of the OCTOcom treasury, and the day to day managerial duties of running their respective communes. These positions will be filled by board members and will be elected by board members. Some examples are as follows……

Director of Distribution: The Director of Distribution will be elected from the IBD by the IBD. The DoD will be responsible for distributing goods to OCTO workers as needed. The DoD will have access to a separate org which functions as a storage facility for goods meant for distribution to the OCTOcom workers.

Director of the Treasury: The Director of the Treasury will be elected from the IBD by the IBD. The DoT will be responsible for all of the wealth generated by the OCTOcom. The funds will be stored in a separate org that the DoT will have access to.

Director of Linguistics: The Director of Linguistics will be in charge of recruiting and managing a team of translators for the OCTOcom. This will be known as the Linguistics Department. The Linguistics Department will be in charge of translating messages/articles for the OCTOcom. This is necessary due to the international nature of the organization.

Other board members may have other projects yet to be decided on, for example, an anti PTO group. Of course, we are open to discussion on future projects for the IBD.



Some rules and rights that have been decided on for the IBD are as follows………


Board Members will have the option of requesting funding on behalf of their countries.
All requests for funds will be voted on by the board.


If a board member doesn’t wish to manage his/her party’s commune, the member may appoint another member of the board to do so


If it is ever proven that a board member has inappropriately used or transferred any asset of the OCTOcom, (acted independently, ignored protocol) then that member can be immediately dismissed from the IBD.

Board Members can also be removed from the IBD via an unanimous vote by the IBD after a motion has been proposed and discussed.



Future Goals


First of all, the OCTOcom is not an attempt to rival the Internationale, it is actually meant to be a type of subset. The idea is to bring all of the parties of the western hemisphere together in solidarity in order to strengthen relations and provide non-exploitative alternatives to capitalist production.
Two specific possible incarnations of the OCTOcom construct in the future are the possible formation of an OCTO militia made up of the international workforce, and an ATO force. The OCTO militia would prove to be highly effective in the V2 military module due to the ability to combine already existing party militias and/or recruiting members from the OCTOcom communes. An ATO force is another very realistic possibility for the OCTOcom under the same justification.

After a certain level of efficiency has been reached we believe the OCTOcom could be used to help seize state control in nations where it is realistically possible to do so. This of course is the desire of many Socialist Parties throughout eRepublik. We have all heard the cry for a Socialist Nation. We believe that the OCTOcom, due to its unique nature, can provide a vehicle to that reality in the future.



Other Possible Projects


The function OCTOcom, as noted above, does not necessarily have to be exclusively communal. There are opportunities for various other types of projects that can be implemented within the OCTOcom construct. The possibilities are truly endless and all parties involved are encouraged to voice any ideas and opinions on how the OCTOcom can best be utilized.


Upcoming IRC Meeting


There will be an IRC meeting scheduled in the very near future where these issues can be discussed. We are open to suggestions and input from all parties involved. Any party that has received this proposal from a member of the Socialist Freedom Party is invited and encouraged to attend. All of the above information is also subject to discussion. We absolutely invite your opinions and input on any issue involved.

Como representantes del PLS nos hemos esforzado en establecer y mantener buenas relaciones con todos los Partidos Socialistas dentro de la eRepública, sin hacer importancia de su posición ni su tamaño. Creemos haber tenido algo de éxito en este esfuerzo. Con atención a lo anterior, el ambiente sumamente capitalista dentro de la eRepública y en vista de la dificultad de reclutar jugadores con valores socialistas proponemos la unión de todos los partidarios socialistas y el establecimiento de un movimiento unido mundialmente.

En espera de la V2 y los problemas de salud actualmente que a todos nos afectan en gran parte por las nuevas reglas hospitalarias reconocemos los retos que enfrentan a todo jugador y en especial los jugadores socialistas y creemos que este momento sea el más propicio para efectuar una llamada de unirse todos los socialistas. Ahora bien es el momento para que nos aventamos de las ventajas únicas que nos presentan los varios partidos socialistas trabajando en unión de sus países respectivos. Sin más preámbulo les presentamos el OCTOcom (Organización Mercantil Comunal Occidental comuna).

¿Qué es el OCTOcom?

El OCTOcom es una red comunal multinacional centralizado por una eRepública Org única y funciona como una entidad. Su dirigencia se llevará acabo por una mesa directiva representando cada partido participante o una organización con circunstancias especiales. Por el momento el OCTOcom tendrá representación en los paises que gozan con partidos socialistas o que tengan organizaciones socialistas no gubermentales dentro del hemisferio occidental (America del norte y sud). Si quiere participar alguna organización o cualquier partido con el OCTOcom este funcionará como una parte necesario pero por seperado.

La idea del OCTOcom es para crear una “comuna transnacional”. A cambio de lo normal para establecer las varias industrias propietarias bajo una régimen nacionalista o partidista el OCTOcom tiene como propuesta establecer industrias a través la varias naciones de los partidos participantes dentro del OCTOcom. Por lo tanto OCTOcom podrá tomar ventaja de los recursos que brinda cada participante como areas altas de recursos básicos o lugares de alto mano de obra. Por ejemplo puede haber un país responsable de proveer grano y otro en la manufactura de comida. Así como un país responsable del recurso de fiero y otro en la manufactura de armas, etcétera.


¿Cuales son los beneficios de la participación?

Cada partido participante tendrá acceso a varias regiones de altos recursos sin tener la necesidad de tener presencia física en el lugar. Por ejemplo, si haya un miembro que goza de una región de alto recurso en diamantes todos los miembros de la organización tendrán acceso a los “gifts”. Si hubiera un miembro con base en una región de alto recurso en fiero así todos tendrían beneficio igual. Por su participación en el OCTOcom su partido puede mantener sus miembros en casa así fortaleciendo su impacto político dentro de su país mientras a la vez participando en una comuna masiva internacional como el OCTOcom.

Creemos que por establecer una organización internacional masiva de esta forma, el OCTOcom pueda eficientemente proveer a sus miembros todos los beneficios de un comuna mas de una forma mas eficiente. Sus ciudadanos tendrán como beneficio la garantia de salud y acceso a todo necesario para sobrevivir y sobresalir en la eRepública.

¿Cuáles son las funciones de la mesa directiva, que es su estructura?

La mesa directiva internacional o IBD, será compuesta de un representante de cada partido o organización participante. Este será por elección popular. La mesa directiva tiene como propósito manejar la organización de una forma democrática y a través de una organización eRepública. La mesa directiva tendrá responsabilidad por la distribución de los bienes, tales como comida y “gifts”, velar por los trabajadores dentro de posiciones de elección popular, velar las finanzas y la gerencia cotidiana de las respectivas comunas. Estos cargos se llevarán acabo por miembros de la mesa directiva y elegido por lo mismo. Algunos ejemplos a continuación:

Director de Distribución: El Director de Distribución será miembro de la IBD y elegido por lo mismo. El DD tendrá responsabilidad de la distribución de los bienes a los trabajadores del OCTOcom como sean necesario. El DD tendrá acceso a una organización por separado que tendrá como parte de su estructura almacenamiento para todos los bienes que se necesita para la distribución para los trabajadores del OCTOcom.

Director de Bolsa: El Director de Bolsa será miembro de la IBD y elegido por lo mismo. El DB tendra responsabilidad por todo recurso efectivo que se genera el OCTOcom. El DB tendrá acceso a una organización por separado que tendrá como parte de su estructura los fondos por separado.

Director de Lingüística: el Director de Lingüística será a cargo del reclutamiento y manejo de un equipo de traductores para el OCTOcom. Se conocerá como la Secretaría de Lingüística. La Secretaría de Lingüística tendrá como responsabilidad toda traducción de mensajes, noticias para el OCTOcom. Sea necesario por causa de la naturaleza internacional del OCTOcom.

Otros miembros de la mesa directiva podrán tener otros proyectos, que por ejemplo podría incluir un grupo antiPTO. Ha de reconocer que estamos abiertos a discutir proyectos futuros para el IBD.


A continuación les presentamos algunos reglas y derechos para el IB😨

Miembros de la Mesa Directiva tendrán derecho a solicitar fondos para sus países. Toda solicitud será votada por la mesa directiva.

Si algún miembro no le interesa dirigir la comuna de su partido este mismo tiene derecho a nombrar a otro miembro de la mesa directiva que lo haga.

Si algún miembro de la mesa directiva comete fraude o por negligencia o acto malintencionado hace uso o transferencia de un bien del OCTOcom, con pruebas se le pueda despedir de inmediato del IBD.

Se permite la despedida de Miembros de la Mesa Directiva mediante un voto unánime de toda los directores a través de una moción parlamentario haya sido propuesto y discutido.


Metas al Futuro

Para precisar, el OCTOcom no es intencionado como rival al “Internationale”, es mas bien ideado como una parte del mismo. La idea principal es juntar todos los partidos del hemisferio occidental en solidaridad a fin de que se fortalezcan las relaciones entre partidos y proveer alternativas no explotativas a la producción capitalista. Existen dos manifestaciones del OCTOcom para el futuro que serían el posible formación de una junta militar compuesta de la mano de obra internacional y una fuerza ATO. La Junta OCTOcom podría ser muy efectiva mediante el modulo militar V2 a través de la nueva habilidad de combinar juntas existentes y/o reclutamiento de miembros de las comunas OCTOcom. Una fuerza ATO también es otra buena posibilidad para el OCTOcom por las mismas razones.

Creemos que al llegar a un nivel de eficiencia apropiada se podría utilizar el OCTOcom como forma de tomar control de la política de algunos países juzgados como candidatos ideales. Por supuesto esto representa el deseo de algunos partidos socialistas en toda la eRepública. Todos hemos oído al grito de la creación de una nación socialista. Creemos que por la naturaleza única del OCTOcom, se puede realizar esa visión en el futuro.




Otros Proyectos Posibles

La función del OCTOcom, como anteriormente mencionada no necesariamente tiene que ser exclusivamente comunal. Existen las posibilidades de varios otros proyectos que se puede implementar mediante el OCTOcom. Existen una infinidad de posibilidades y se les invita a toda persona interesada expresar sus ideas y opiniones sobre podemos mejor utilizar el OCTOcom.


Reunión del IRC

Se llevará a cabo una reunión IRC en el futuro cercano para discutir todos los aspectos. Estamos abierto a toda idea constructiva. Se le da una invitación formal a cualquier partido que haya recibido esta propuesta de algún miembro del partido “Socialist Freedom Party”. Deseamos toda participación de cuantos partidarios que se pueda asistir.
