Citizen Dru (UIP) Platform – New York: Ready! Set! Go!

Day 461, 10:48 Published in USA USA by Citizen Dru
Salutations eUSA and eNew York

Allow me to present my platform for my congressional run in New York on the United Independents (UIP) ticket. The current representative, Greecelightning, has resigned, and I’m offering myself as a quite suitable replacement. Let me introduce myself.

Yeah. It takes some serious marbles for a 21-day-old player to run for congress in the third largest voting constituency in eUSA, but New York is my home and I have to represent. I hail from Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, off the G-Train. This matters naught but for the “cred”.

Many of you know that I’ve come to eRepublik with considerable energy and outspokenness, and am an attentive student of the game. I’m a veteran of resistance wars in the Russian Far East and Greece, and have quickly and diligently levved-up to 12 in order to stand to run as an independent v1 voice in Congress. I have no company, no org, no overweening partisanship – no agenda but our own. I've met and made friends with many of the game's active players, and have been personally endorsed by Jewitt, Blue Holt, and the fine young libertarian Jythier Smith.

My chief interest is in foreign policy – specifically, a strong support for eUSA to reshape and realign itself within *or apart from* the Treaty of ATLANTIS. Neither hawk nor dove, I think it is time that the eUSA come to terms with major failures of the ATLANTIS bloc in anticipating and defending sovereign eNations from direct aggression. We are the third most powerful nation in eRepublick – we should for no reason permit an outdated alliance structure to prevent us from responding to aggressor states like Indonesia, nor should we blindly aid the expansionist tendencies of certain “allies”.

Here Are Issue Soundbytes (To Show How Non-Amateur I Am To Those Disinclined to Read the Foregoing Ramble):

• “eIndonesia is the eUSA’s chief foreign policy threat on the geostrategic disco-floor, and ATLANTIS lacks a strategy to address this. Witness India’s Karanatka at knife-point, and no coherent ATLANTIS policy to aid the occupied Australians, South Africans, and Argentines.”

• “All formally constituted eNations have a natural right (yes, “natural right”, suckaz-googlit) to their own sovereign governments in their own national territories. The eUSA can and should fight to defend this.”

• “Taxation is a bit high, I think, especially for new players and working wage-earners, but if we get what we pay for in terms of a robust national defense and sound foreign policy, it is worth it. We are not getting this now.

• “We should have the highest import taxes we can possibly get away with without sparking a trade war. No reason for us to be hosed by “allies” who nevertheless practice their own exceedingly protectionist trade regimes. I’ve read David Ricardo. I get free trade and comparative advantage, but if others aren’t willing to play along, we’re sucker amateurs.

• “In a perfect world, it would be sweetly pimpin’ to bring a Q-5 Hospital to New York’s 950 citizens. We, however, live in a world of crappy finite resources, and spending that kind of cash-money on a hospital simply isn’t practical at this time. Anyone who tells you otherwise is jacked to the eyelids with populist flim-flam.”

• “Nationalized weapons companies are an interesting idea, but without oversight, would be ripe for scammy rip-off artist shenanigans. Y’all remember that time that One Guy stole the entire Federal Reserve?”

• “Basically, I’m not in this race to pick b*tch-fights or grind axes. A party is a brandname or a flavor, and is not a substitute for independent thought. My opponents are, as far as I can tell, worthy players acting in goodwill. I am, however, a dedicated, principled, thoughtful, outspoken, and intelligent player who wants to join the government. Help me to get there, New York.

PAID FOR BY SOME COMMITTEE TO ELECT “CITIZEN DRU” TO THE US CONGRESS. FOR EFF SAKE, VOTE THIS UP!
