Chronicle: Swedens community walks the same path with the same old shoes

Day 1,499, 02:57 Published in Sweden USA by Toothpaste

I remember the pre-elections for the presidential seat. Raticon (MSAP), who is now the president of Sweden wrote a thread in the forums where he said that under his leadership the politics will be more transparent, more open, there will be more democracy and not at least: he will do what the congress (the People) wants him to do.

It has gone a week since Raticon came to power. There has been some change in the congress too, but only for the better for the socialist coalition. For the lefties the dream has come true: they have total power to change Sweden into their made up utopia.

But did they?

Chronicle by Toothpaste,
Flashback Swedens representative in the Congress

1. "The People" should have a say

I've heard rumors that Sweden is about to sign or even has signed a peace deal with Norway, Denmark and/or Finland. I don't know if that's true, but there is no smoke with out fire. And what I do know is that there has been no discussion what so ever about this matter in the congress. "The people" has not been asked to say their opinion.

I honestly don't know if the players of Sweden or the congress wants a peace deal with their old foes or they want to continue to fight. But I do know that there was no thought regarding a peace deal among the people from around all the parties during the presidency of Parsons (FBS) and before EDEN attacked our country. I know be course I asked you readers when FBS was in power.

Maybe the people has changed their mind about a peace deal today, but how do we know? And why didn't the red coalition put up the question for a debate in the congress? It suddenly feels like the statements regarding democracy from the red manifests are no longer valid. Feels bad that we got corrupt so fast.

2. Freedom of speech important for the community

A second thing I've noticed is that if you do not kiss the red flag, you will not be allowed to speak your mind freely with out being dragged into a meta discussion on the forum or on IRC. You will literary be called an idiot, you will be told to shut your mouth and you will be told that you are so wrong that you shouldn't even use your brain. Over and over again.

I can take that kind of attitude if its part of the roleplay as a specific regime or ideology for the sake of the politics in the game. But from my experience, in general, it kills the new blood in the community when such bad debate manners are allowed to be spread. I would rather suggest that this kind of attitude would be erased from the agenda.

3. The military = the peoples voice?

The third thing that stroke me most is that the military officials are speaking like if they have been elected by the people. They dont say "The suggestion from the military is..." but rather "Sweden's intention is...". And no asking for the opinions of the congress. The latest order is of course from yesterday that "Sweden wants to be wiped from the map so the it will loses the NE-bonus from Russia and Finland".

"Sweden wants". I tell you one thing: nobody asked the Sweden what she wants. Or have you been asked?

Anyway, this might be a brilliant strategy. But as a peoples representative in the congress of Sweden I do not take such order from the military lightly with out having a serious talk about it. I might be to conservative, an "old player" with to much stupid pride from the past, but I still feel that such decision should gain approval from among the people before its executed, and not just from the military leaders and some secret agency.

In my mind, allowing Sweden being wiped from the map is a huge thing cuz it has never happen before. And such decision is written down in the history books and will influence the future generation of players. This will be used against Sweden when ever possible. And not by EDEN, the over-powerful evil alliance, but by Norway, Denmark and Finland. At the end it will say that it was actually Finland, lillbrodern Norway and Denmark that wiped Sweden from the map. In my opinion, the congress should talk this through and people should speak their minds before giving it an official go. Everyone should feel involved in such huge decision.

And so should all big decisions be handled. Including the militaristic ones - By the congress in the public - and not by the military elite behind closed doors. I say that course I mean it. Hopefully Raticon did said the same for the same reason.

So to answer my question at the start: did the left coalition implement more democracy, more freedom and more power to the people? No yet at least. I feel that we are walking in the same path, with the same old shoes. But maybe the change will come before its time to makes new promisses to the people once again.
