Thankfully Technician has stayed for the time being. I've been saying for a long time (since the death of the Econ Module through "Lands" killing the 1 job per day concept) that Plato's goal is to drive away all the Old players so those who stumble on eRepublik will feed them cash only to quit 2 or 3 months later.
Many browser-based MMO's rely on similar cyclical retention models to generate profit while providing nearly 0 content. The game will live, but the community will perish.
