Beyond the USMilitary

Dateline: Sunday June 26, 2011 (Day 1,314)
Location: Field Dispatch; Behind Enemy Lines
Reporter: Private George Armstrong "Old Man" Custer

In last Wednesday's Death From Above: Movie Night edition, I announced a contest to run in conjunction with the Challenge Coins IV presentation. I had intended to tap into the natural flow of Training Corps graduates who transfer out to other USMilitary branches, and award Q5 tanks to a handful for doing so. Silly me, I didn't bother to research the process before making the announcement. As it turns out, it's impossible to meet the deadline I imposed, so that particular presentation will be delayed a bit.

But never fear, Old Man Custer had the next brilliant idea already in the works, and simply had to move that presentation ahead in order to bring you something special for your Sunday reading.

The Challenge Coins project is about Morale Building.
It started out as a USArmy thing, then expanded to include all USMilitary branches, so it's just a natural step in progression to expand the program outside the USMilitary to include American Civilians and eventually to members of other Militaries and Militias as well. After all, we are all on the same team, Team America, and you don't have to look far to spot someone whose hard work and dedication makes them stand out in the crowd.

Today, Death From Above recognizes five extraordinary Americans, each for their own special contribution to our country. While some are, indeed, members of a Military or Militia, it is for their civilian activities they are honored.

A new Challenge Coin has been designed, utilizing components of two existing civilian honors and adding the really cool engraved golden eagle.

Integrity, Trust, Innovation, Character, Teamwork, Quality, and Excellence, underscored by the phrase, Delivered by Great People describes these Golden Eagle Americans to a tee.

Integrity in Government Work

Cromstar has served America as a 21x Congressman and 4x Speaker of the House, and is currently serving as Congressional Librarian and Advisor. He has also headed the Military Committee, Government Oversight Committee, and the Domestic/Internal Committee, and helped write our 2nd and 3rd US Constitutions. Presidential Cabinet appointments include Federal Budget Commissioner and Secretary of Education, as well as being an Advisor to several Presidents.
Cromstar's newspaper, The Watch Tower, has embarked on a new series, United States Armed Forces Radio, featuring frequent updates to the War with hard-hitting optimism.
Legendary Congressional Whip Rainy Sunday makes this nomination, saying, "Cromstar is a cornerstone of US Congress, he's often quiet and non-imposing but he's ever watchful and holds the entire structure up when it's needed. He's smart, sensible and carries a wealth of institutional knowledge."

Economic Innovation

Publius currently heads our Congressional Budget Office, where all our taxes are collected and safely held for distribution as directed in the Congressional Budget to the various government programs such as Meals on Wheels and Arm America, as well as to qualifying Military and Militia organizations. In short, he is entrusted with the safekeeping of America's money.
Publius developed the very first US Tax Plan, called PANEC, and continues to advise Congress on Tax and Budget matters. He has also been an Advisor to several Presidents.
"The Publius Fist" is a game rank Field Marshall* with 98 Battle Hero medals, 2 campaign Heroes and a Resistance Hero.
In nominating Publius, Cromstar noted, "He's like... that awesome. So awesome, we've given him custody of every penny the government earns in taxes."

Quality in the Media

Blank Keating continues in the Presidential Cabinet appointment of Secretary of Education under several Presidents, a clear recognition of his journalistic and teaching skills.
With greats like Lieutenant Scheisskopf and Desertfalcon gone, our US Media is sorely lacking in true talent. Blank Keating's work shines brightly as a beacon of hope, that literacy is not completely dead, and there is at least one paper worth subscribing to and actually reading before voting.
As one of too few writers who actually practice consistently competent and literate journalism, choosing Keating was unfortunately very easy.
The most recent edition of The Keating Chronicles hints that Keating may be leaving the game, like so many others, in disgust at what Admins have done to it.
I wrote to Blank Keating last night: "You're getting the Challenge Coin, dead or alive. Don't make me slip it into your suit pocket at the wake."

Battlefield Excellence

Captain Communism is a USMarine on the inactive list due to RL time constraints, currently fighting for America as a civilian, and is the heaviest hitter in the USA. Ranked #5 in Experience points, Captain Communism has over 7300 Strength points, is game ranked as a National Force*** and has earned an incredible 435 Battle Hero medals and 16 Campaign Hero medals.
On his profile page, his About Me section reads: "Karl Marx, created five rings, and gave them to five special people's heroes. Mao Tze-Tung, power of Class Struggle. Josef Stalin, power of Purge. Che Guevara, power of Revolution. Hugo Chávez, power of Vanguardism. Ho Chih Minh, power of Theory. By their powers combined, I AM CAPTAIN COMMUNISM!!!"
The ten Q5 tanks he receives from me today will drop over 44,000 damage points on our enemies.

Extraordinary Personal Character

Brickwall is one of the thousands of players who quietly goes about the daily business of working, training, and fighting. His newspaper, Republican Party paper, has had four editions and has seven subscribers.
So what's so special about this guy? As you can see by his avatar photo, he's working with somewhat of a disadvantage. He plays when his health allows, and does that using a stick in his mouth to type with.
This guy Brickwall has more friggin' heart than you and me and all of today's readers put together.
USMC Media Officer Sir Valaro Volcrum joins me in nominating Brickwall, telling me, "Brickwall was in the Mobile Infantry with me, then went to Israel with me, and has seen action in several key historic battles. He's as clean and honest as they come, a hard worker and hard fighter who I am proud to call my friend." I'll echo that, SVV.
USAirborne General Cyber Witch remembers Brick, too. "He was a damn good Platoon CO. His respect for others earned him the everlasting respect of his troops and fellow officers."

Congratulations, Golden Eagle Americans-- and, Thank You!
