Canada, the Scapegoat?! America's War of Aggression

Day 1,703, 01:05 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

I love America, alright? As an American citizen in real life, I've always identified myself as an American. When I first started playing this game, I had a very difficult decision to make, and I ended up starting in Canada, simply because I would get more chances to gain recognition in a smaller community. But I always considered America a big brother. Sure, they may be stronger and more powerful, but they always looked out for the smaller, weaker nations such as Canada. I always respected America's discipline and poise, because even though we were a sitting duck next to them, they valued our friendship over a mere handful of provinces.

But apparently, America's new government cares not for friendships, good or bad. I've always stated that every move and decision requires logical thinking. At times, I'll admit, logic went against friendships, such as when I questioned the usefulness of our alliance with France. I'll also admit that when the first news of the new alliance came about, I was very intrigued by the possibility of a super-alliance, with USA by our side. Why not, right? But all these thoughts were based on logical planning. A new alliance would have been nice because it would secure our place as a power. Getting rid of France would have saved us the hassle of saving them more times than Mario saves Princess Peach. But America's attack on us makes NO logical thinking, and is only based on anger and frustration.

Now, this all started when Rylde leaked info about America's backdoor plans to form an alliance with Spoland and Brozil. First off, this news wasn't really news. Logs discussing the alliance surfaced almost 2 weeks before Rylde's article, so Rylde wasn't exactly the early bird. But fine, maybe he shouldn't have exposed the plans. But the question is, why were you planning to betray all of Terra in the first place? Can't you see that Rylde was merely warning the world of your betrayal?

America's response is not acknowledging their backdoor deals, or even denying it all. They instead decide to blame us for revealing their plan! Not only is it basic strategy to dig up as much information as possible, America's response pretty much sums up to: "You caught us, and we're not sorry. We're not even sorry we got caught. YOU should be the ones to blame for catching us." It's similar to a drug dealer suing a cop because he got arrested.

And another noteworthy point. America claimed that Canada had had a part in the alliance before the leak. But in the legislation that Rylde leaked, Canada was never mentioned, unless you assume that the rotational 5th member would be us. Then, why would America, our BFF of almost four years, consider us chumps and 2nd class? Clearly, you never valued us as equals.

Up to yesterday, our relations were shaky, but fixable through time. Then came our proposal to NE America. Once again, this was our fault, no denying it. We shouldn't have put up the proposal. And we took our steps to fix the problem. Rylde booted out the defective drone rogue individual, and commanded all our remaining congressmen to shoot down the proposal. Crisis averted, right?

Not surprisingly, due to the early overwhelming support the NE had, America quickly countered with its own NE proposal, just in case. All understandable, and I don't blame them for that. It's eRepublik 101 to match NEs that could pass. But here's the problem: America kept pushing the proposal even after Rylde posted the explanation for the NE. Americans might not trust Rylde, and it's understandable, but when Canada's proposal quickly got a slew of NO votes, it was clear he meant what he said and was doing the best he could to fix the problem.

Naturally, any reasonable nation would try to amend things peacefully. We made our apologies, and we solved the problem. Simple. But instead of Evry accepting our mistake and letting bygones be bygones, the American President decides to keep pushing the proposal, gaining even more support in Congress, ultimately resulting in a successful war. What the hell?!

Ok, maybe they couldn't get Congress together and vote down the proposal in time. After all, America had gotten a few NO votes in the final hour, and America's final tally was a barely-passing 34-17 in favor, so one slothful congressman could have been to blame. Indeed, if America had come up with this explanation, I would have been the first to forgive them. Mistakes happen. Get a quick peace deal, status quo, everyone's happy.

But again, America decides to push the issue further. Clearing out their MPPs with Terra and EDEN (this is important), they take the opportunity to start an MPP with Spain! Now, it becomes clear what America has decided to do. They've used a rogue Canadian congressman (bribed?) to wipe away their MPPs, pin the fault on Canada, and use it as an excuse to say "Gee, we can't trust Canada or Terra! Let's run to Spain for comfort and tomatoes!" This was an excuse to switch sides and everyone knows it.

And remember, don't blame all of America for this. Many good men and women stationed there have been loyal to Terra, and we salute them for it. That is why it sickens me to see a destructive American government ruin years of progress for its nation. How can you be the representation for your people when almost half of your nation wants you out of power?

Besides, if there was any benefit to conquering the Maple Leaf, I would at least give you credit for being cunning enough to get what your nation desires. But what the hell does Canada give you? America already has 100/100 bonuses, and attacking Canada does nothing more than give you nine more regions that will revolt at any time. It gives you no bonuses, it gives you no new borders, it doesn't even give the right to say "we beat a stronger nation, now shower us with prestige", because we're not! Face it America, you attacked a weaker nation because of spite and anger that we exposed your corrupt government's fiendish ways. Deal with it.

I encourage, I implore you, Americans. Let your eyes see the light and understand that your government wants nothing more than to backstab all of its allies and pin the blame on its little brother. And you can stop it before it's too late! Either leave the country, or get your leader out. Capiche?

Plus, we have fresh maple syrup!

Until next time, take care!
