Canada and PANAM

Day 1,161, 19:19 Published in Canada Canada by Jacobi

Good evening my fellow Canucks and international subscribers,

Some people, gathering from a statement made by the US President, might have come to the conclusion that Canada has indeed joined PANAM.

Much like the statements from most Presidents, Haliman’s statement is mostly true.

Isn’t this always the way?

It has been no real secret that the PANAM charter as presented to Canada several weeks ago was not met with significant enthusiasm. There were aspects of it that were found wanting by the Canadian Congress and it was sent back to the minors as it were. Chucky Norris, who has been government lead on this project for quite some time, pressed on and about a week ago President Aeriala received a counter offer from PANAM for us to consider.

That counter offer was:

• That the current PANAM charter be scrapped
• Dioist references to be removed (though not to be replaced by Sutler references for some reason)
• Canada can maintain its allegiance to EDEN
• We would get input on the drafting of a new Charter

And then, once that charter is complete, we would re-evaluate our membership at that time.

Perhaps the people at PANAM knew about our real life tendency towards wishy-washiness, but PANAM has certainly thrown us a bone and acceded to Canadian concerns. Towards that end, the outgoing Congress accepted this limited agreement and Canada moves forward within that framework.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this issue, I will be more than happy to answer them.
