Call to Action - 25% for 100%

Greetings My Fellow Americans,

It’s been wonderful coming back to the game, talking to old enemies, old friends, and making new ones. I want to thank

for taking an interest in my past work in the USWP and APF. I was raised there 10 years ago and have nothing but fond memories. I’m now a Fed for the first time in this game and looking forward to working with many names from long ago and some great younger players as well.

So much has been said this past week about social disputes, personal attacks, etc. The media was reminiscent of old days with multiple articles covering the same topic, which was the talk of the game. Hundreds of collective comments and votes were cast and written on these. What does that prove?

The game IS STILL ALIVE

Since my return I’ve heard so much about how the game isn’t what it was. That is very true. I miss V1 combat dearly. The division switcher is absurd and a clear money making grab that alienates younger and weaker players who can’t earn battle medals in their own division. However, the time for looking to the past with nostalgia and longing for a different era should be closing soon. We should always learn from the past (I do this for a living…), but it’s time to look forward.

So few articles talk about where we are going. You see this in Presidential Candidates when they run for office but that’s about it. The time has come for what WE want in this game and to understand that we need to accept why WE are still here.

Time for honesty and a check in.

Do you find yourself entering Discord waiting to see what’s been said and if you have any PM’s?

Do you enter the forums and the first thing you do is click on “new replies to your posts”?

Do you get some satisfaction seeing the red number indicator in game over your messages (this excludes Presidents who are just flooded with them)?

When you see a new contest show up do you get a bit more excited about the game?

I’m willing to bet the answer is yes to one or many of these questions. So it begs the question, why aren’t we doing more to increase these because THAT’S what the game is for.

Derphoof recently wrote,
“You cannot disrespect these people.

You cannot discriminate against them.

You cannot make life harder for them.

You have no right. Rather, you must be compassionate and loving, as you should be toward all peoples.”

I think it’s pretty clear, you either respect what Derphoof wrote or you don’t. You either respond yes to the questions I asked above or you don’t. If you respect what Derphoof wrote, and are excited about new messages, social contests, etc. then I understand why you are here and will dedicate my time here to increasing that. If you are on the other side of Derphoof, you should be ignored or called out. I’m proud of those who did that this week. But we also can’t let that take over the game. New players seeing that will not stick around because they don’t have the nostalgia/memories that many of us have. People who we want in this community are drawn to positivity, hope, and fun. Let’s not lose sight of that. Let’s leave the intense conversations for debating game politics, military plans, etc. Many of us find those debates enjoyable.

So how do I end this “I’m Back” article? This isn’t a partisan article. There is plenty of time for that later. I am very much looking forward to my new work in the Feds, but we need cross-party healing and a goal right now. Any decent article has a call to action. If you are familiar with the painting and name of this newspaper (first I’m proud of your historical knowledge, and yes, Marat was as nuts as they come and this was started as a joke name for a paper), then you’d know he always had a call to action.

HERE IS YOUR CALL TO ACTION

25% for 100%

It’s that simple. Give the community 25% more of your effort, time, thoughtfulness, fun loving eRepublik playing self. In return, I can guarantee you’ll enjoy the game 100% more. Just look to my bud Josh Whitehead. He’s back playing more and was shocked at the “love” he got over comments on his latest article. He said, “It's absolutely amazing to see all the amazing feedback and comments in yesterday's newest article. I love it. “

For all of you two clickers and occasional newspaper readers

Join Discord, Join the Forums, Join a Party, Write an article. Do something to get yourself involved.

For all of you who still aren’t using the air combat correctly (looking at you Whitehead)

Fight with pride for the eUSA in the sky and help out one of our fine MU’s in this effort

For all of you consumed with these latest drama moments

Know that This Too Shall Pass as it has many times in this game. I’ve seen St. Krems, Emerick, and Pizza the Hut collectively drive people to drink but we came out the other side. (oh hi Ronald). I’ve actually had some pleasant talks with Ajay recently to which I was shocked!

So there it is. There’s your call to action. Add 25% more and collectively this will be a place where we will all enjoy stopping by and hanging out more.

Sincerely, The Friend of the People

Out of respect for the USWP, still including this one!
