California (knows how to party)

Day 577, 17:39 Published in USA USA by Vincent Garibaldi

Hey California! Remember me?

Yeah, I didn't think so...

I'm Vincent Garibaldi and I'm running as the libertarian candidate in California. I'd kind of appreciate it if you voted for me come election day (The 25th).

Why should you vote for me? Well I'm active, reasonably personable, and I have a good grasp of both the game and eConomiks. But enough about me let's get to the platform, shall we? I'm active, you can PM me, find me on irc, or on the forums. If you have any questions just hit me up somewhere.

Military: I think it goes without saying that I support a strong military. I support giving them the things they need to get the job done. We are in far better shape than we have ever been, but we can still do much better. We also need to continue making sure that we support all levels of soldiers. Tanks simply aren't where America's advantage lies. They have their uses, but we are a nation of massive potential due to our massive population. We need to continue using it.

Economy: I support low import taxes on Raw Materials, and lowish import taxes on finished goods. Not only will this maximize our wealth in the long run, it also makes us more potent damage dealers. (Seriously, ask One Eye.) I support continued war games as well, which is militarily beneficial to boot. Furthermore, I'd like to put pressure on other nations to open up trade by lowering their import taxes. There are a few ways to do this, but we have to be willing to embargo or otherwise punish those nations which attempt to freeload off of our markets. I support a 1% VAT tax, and a lower income tax as well. Some people might be hurt by certain tax changes, but our nation as a whole is what is important. Those losses made by certain individuals should be quickly made up by increasing prosperity.

Foreign Policy: I believe in a more expansive foreign policy. We need to look more outside of former Atlantis nations for allies. We must support weaker nations when we can, and keep our word in all cases. We should look for friends in neutral countries and certain PEACE nations as well. I'm not saying that Hungary, Indonesia, etc. will stop being our primary enemies, but there is no reason not to engage with certain PEACE nations. I suggest a more moral foreign policy as well. There is something to be said for detachment in foreign affairs, but a more caring foreign policy could also reap large rewards for us.

Politics: I'll cooperate with other politicians from other parties based on their ideas, not affiliation. If someone in the USWP is right about something, it wold be foolish to let partisanship hurt our nation. Furthermore, I'd like to here from the citizens at least twice a week. I want you to be informed about the goings on in the government, and I want you to let me know what you want.

I won't say to vote for me because I'm old or experienced. I've seen too many qualified people who were quick out of the stall, or came out of no where. I also won't say I always no what's best. I think that's a good thing because I know how to listen to competing arguments. Finally I won't say vote for me because I want to keep things going good. Things might be going good, but we can do better. We do need to change some things to that end.

Thanks, vote Vincent Garibaldi June '09.
