Bulgaria-EDEN-Turkey

Day 1,553, 13:48 Published in China China by radens

I wanted to write article regarding this issue long time ago, but I guess my laziness was to strong. Even though my laziness is still very strong latest events in EDEN encouraged me to do it now.

This is the way I saw all this Bulgaria-EDEN-Turkey soap and how I see the future of alliance:

1. After being mistreated by ONE, Turkey decides to change the sides and contacts EDEN HQ

When Turkey contacted EDEN HQ, a meeting between EDEN HQ and EDEN country members was held and the general opinion was to accept Turkey as friendly country .
That meeting gave EDEN HQ the right to start talking to Turkey about possible Turkey’s future with or in EDEN.

- few CPs (including Bulgarian) expressed their worries concerning this issue, but nobody was strictly against Turkey and the decision to welcome them as friendly country was unanimous
---> mistake no.1done by Bulgarian government
If Bulgaria didn’t want to give Turkey a chance (and it looks like Bulgaria never wanted that) they should have had the guts to say it from the start.

2. With support of all EDEN CPs, EDEN HQ starts negotiations with Turkey

As Turkey expressed desire to not only become EDEN friendly country, but one day EDEN member, their path to that had to be set and confirmed by all EDEN CPs.

- Turkey wanted to get away from ONE as soon as possible so they demanded 1 month trial
----> mistake no.2 done by EDEN HQ
EDEN HQ had to insist on holding to the rules set long time ago. Trial membership lasts 3 months and there can’t be any exceptions since one of the biggest values of EDEN always was the fact that we were all equal, no matter how big or small countries are.

3. Turkey accepted on trial

Summit was held and the main reason for it was to decide whether Turkey will become EDEN trial member or not.
In order to become EDEN trial member all EDEN countries had to vote in favor of Turkey.

As we all know, all EDEN CPs (including Bulgarian CP) voted yes and Turkey’s trial membership was accepted.

- again, some CPs expressed their worries concerning Turkey, but they all voted yes, aware of the precedent considering the length of trial period
----> mistake no.3 done by Bulgarian government
As most Bulgarians stated after Turkey was accepted on trial, they didn’t want Turkey in EDEN, not then, not tomorrow, not ever in the future.
If Bulgarian government was aware of that, then they either didn’t know what are their people’s wishes and interests or they deliberately worked against people’s will.
Since Bulgarian CP at the time was legally elected by the people of Bulgaria, he was legal representative of Bulgaria, authorized to make such a decision. If accepting Turkey on trial wasn’t the will of his people, then Bulgarian people can blame only themselves because they elected that man to represent them.

----> mistake no.4 again done by Bulgarian representatives
Bulgarian government didn’t clearly explain their actions to their people and didn’t have any propaganda (or if it had, it wasn’t good enough) regarding that subject ergo did nothing to convince their people that the decision to accept Turkey on trial was right and in interests of Bulgaria.

----> mistake no.5 done by EDEN HQ
EDEN population wasn’t properly informed of the Turkey trial membership and there was no propaganda that was supposed to convince general EDEN population that the decision of EDEN CPs and EDEN HQ was the right one.

----> mistake no.6 done by all CPs and EDEN HQ
Trial should have been set according to the rules (3 months) since 1 month trial was against one of the values EDEN was formed on (equality).

4. Turkey trial membership

Trial is a period of time that is given to the country that wants to become a part of EDEN to prove themselves worthy of the alliance and capable to cooperate with all the members.
Once the country is accepted as trial, all EDEN countries were supposed to meet candidate country with open minds, ready to cooperate and together overcome all issues.
Trial isn’t there just for the trial candidate to show itself, it’s there for EDEN to give its best to accept the candidate and help it to understand, learn to accept and cherish EDEN’s values.

- although Turkey was accepted on trial, the real trial never really started, since many didn’t gave it a chance

----> mistake no.7 done by Bulgarian people
Even though Turkey did pretty good during the trial period (returned Romanian and Israeli regions, fought for EDEN’s interests and tried to be friendly towards everyone) most Bulgarians didn’t care about that, since they rejected them before trial even started, therefore Bulgaria never even gave Turkey a chance to prove themselves.

5. Turkey - full EDEN membership

After spending 1 month on trial, as it was determined by EDEN CPs and EDEN HQ, time came to vote on Turkey’s full membership.
With too short trial, wrong attitude shown from Bulgaria and all the mistakes done during the process, Turkey’s dreams of being EDEN member were doomed from start.

----> As full member of EDEN, Bulgaria had every right to veto Turkey’s full membership in EDEN, but since Turkey never had a chance to prove anything, no reasons can justify it.

6. Veto = end of trial

Current situation is pretty messy.
In order to enter EDEN, country has to be accepted on trial. (country can become trial member only if all countries vote in its favor)
If trial was successful country can become full member of EDEN if all countries vote in favor of candidate.
What happens if candidate is rejected isn’t really defined since it never happened in a way it did in Turkey’s case.

Bulgaria says their veto should cancel Turkey’s trial membership too, while HQ says it doesn’t, but nobody is right. 🙂

----> Bulgarian representatives stated that they intend to stay neutral towards Turkey and have nothing against other countries having MPP and cooperating with Turkey and since trial membership is nothing more than MPP with friendly country I don’t see any problems here.
----> mistake no.8 done by EDEN as whole
Treaties are outdated and need to be renewed, supplemented and adjusted to the game conditions.

7. Bulgaria or Turkey?

That’s a question nobody in EDEN has the right to ask since we all had time to make decisions to stop this “storm”, but nothing was done.
Things have gone too far and if it really comes to deciding between Bulgaria and Turkey, it will be the end of EDEN and the eWorld we know.

Conclusion:
EDEN HQ and CPs did some mistakes, but so did Bulgaria (even more, not to mention provoking, disrespecting and insulting allies) and right now EDEN is in the worst situation ever (even worse than when Poland and Spain were leaving) and to be honest I don’t think we can fix it.

As I said before things have gone too far and nothing can bring them back.
If Bulgaria leaves EDEN, alliance would lose key part and would lose all dignity, respect and value.
If EDEN pushes Turkey back to hostility after all this, it will be no different than ONE (if not worse).
Damage is done and it can’t be repaired, EDEN is nothing more than a walking dead struggling with the burden called Bulgaria and Turkey.

I’ve spent ⅔ of my eLife as EDEN citizen and I always fought for what it meant and did all that was in my power to keep it that way, but I can’t call it my EDEN anymore.

It’s time for something new or maybe final logout...
