Botched Iran war, PANAM clings to Europe – What’s wrong with our foreign policy?

Day 1,166, 16:39 Published in USA USA by Sossu

Before the January’s election, the biggest critique aimed at Haliman, the winner of the election, was his apparent lack of experience on foreign policy. Though he rounded an experienced team to back him up to share the burden of this very important part of the President’s job, this month the foreign policy of USA has been without a clear, visible direction. January was a critical month in foreign policy as there was a crackdown in European power balance as Poland got fed up with Romania after all kinds of nasty conversations and conspiracies leaked to the media. As a result, Poland showed their dissent by refusing to renew a MPP with Romania and signed one with Hungary instead. The collapse of Phoenix, the wavering of Eden and the frail steps of a new power bloc being conceived, consisting only the absolute superpowers of Europe, meant that it was the perfect time for USA to further advance the concept of a vigorous, limited regional alliance, uniting the Americas under one banner, and most importantly, finally breaking free from being involved in Europe’s squabbles.

However, during Haliman’s term, PANAM has been seen cuddling with European nations who have grave antipathies towards their neighbors, drawing USA back to being in a supporting role for Europe if allied with. Especially trying to come closer with Turkey has made some European countries suspicious towards us, and as PANAM needs a worthy adversary, one that can only be found from Europe, in order to have a reason to exist, taking the war path against Iran and taking a hostile stand on Spain are definite ways to ensure that there will be countries pissed at us from both sides of the future division of Europe, a situation we don’t want to find ourselves from if we want to see our states untouched in the future. The MPP-policy USA has been sustaining during Haliman’s term suggests that PANAM is far from letting Europe go their own way, but as said, the plan to break in to Europe that was fundamentally flawed in the first place is earning us mistrustful looks from the very same countries we are trying to get acquainted with. Add the upcoming Atlantic war where Brazil and most likely France are once again going to tag team Spain, and we have a foreign policy mess that needs stronger leadership in order to stop America from being misinterpreted as a foreign political weathercock.

On what do we need Europe anymore, especially Poland?

USA joined PANAM in order to formally stay away from Europe’s eternal wars and to give a proper façade to the attempts to create new relationships with nations formerly considered as enemies. However, during this month we have been continuing our relationships with Europe re-signing MPP😒 with the same nations we were trying to, if not get rid of, at least move further away from. We don’t lack our daily battles, nor is there a direct threat towards USA, well at least not in plain sight. It seems like we’re protecting ourselves from something, even when PANAM is the only existing alliance with Eden, who certainly aren’t a threat to us. If the superpowers of Europe unite, USA would be a likely target and we’d need every possible help to protect our borders from invasion. For now this is not the case, and by fortifying our positions and trying to get half of Europe to even join PANAM we are actively pursuing for the bipolar world order to return, something PANAM was essentially founded to oppose. To make the mess resemble an utter fiasco even more, we’re curiously allying with both the old Eden and members of the proposed High5.

Our MPP-renewal with Poland which is currently voted upon is perplexing to say at least when we are denying MPP from their perhaps closest ally, Spain in a time span of under 24 hours. The Atlantic conflict where Spain erased Portugal but suffered setbacks by France is about to erupt in to a full scale war in a matter of hours as our close PANAM ally Brazil and Spain have declared each other as natural enemies. We can’t participate in to this war directly as our MPP with Brazil got erased when we attacked Iran, but staying out of the war in a long term would be both awkward to PANAM and harmful to Brazil. This is what PANAM was essentially designed for, taking care of the interests of geographically close nations and protecting the immediate hemisphere of the alliance. If we get drawn to the war with Spain, we will find ourselves from both sides of the fence with our MPP with Poland.

The true breaking point comes 4 days from now on Haliman’s final days as president. Our MPP with Romania is set to expire then, and if we want to preserve our relationship with Poland, resigning it is out of the question. If we are going to support Brazil in their war with Spain and fortify against the possible new superalliance, an alliance Romania won’t be a part of, cooperating with Romania would seem more logical. Our war with Iran however managed to piss off Bulgaria, an European power player and a close ally to Romania.

What we’re supposedly doing here is trying to be friends with all of Europe, which is impossible. We can’t play with two sets of cards. Being friends with Poland and kicking the living shit out of Spain can’t be done at the same time, nor can we be chillin’ with Romania and conspire against Bulgaria simultaneously.

Can’t have them all. At least at the same time

Our journey to Europe cut short.

Our successful war with Iran has quickly turned in to a nightmare as the announcement of our intent to travel all the way to Europe, quite like a reverse land bridge what Serbia used to get to Liaoning, turned Europe’s eyes on us and what started as a leisurely stroll through the Iranian countryside was culminated in a huge battle in Fars where we lost the battle and the initiative along with it. A successful RW was waged in NW Iran, and we are currently losing the direct battle in Esfahan and a RW in Hormozgan, reducing our Iranian regions to Sistan and Baluchistan. A war to entertain the American populace turned in to a determined campaign when questions were asked about the true motives of the war, which the Haliman administration revealed to be no less but to bulldoze a way to Europe and presumably challenge Serbia to a direct war with their original regions at stake.

This of course drew Serbia’s attention to Iran, and they put up a fight they ultimately won. Looking back at the plan to go to Europe through Iran, Turkey and possibly Bulgaria, vast strategical fallacies can be seen that raise questions if the plan was merely an attempt to bolster Haliman’s domestic image which was questioned when there was no apparent reason other than fun to engage Iran.

What comes to a war with Serbia, it’s a more of a wet dream than an actual operative plan. Reaching their cores that are nearly 20 regions away from our borders is complicated, time consuming and prone to mistakes, delays and obstacles. We couldn’t defeat Serbia on our own. We’d need help from the rest of Europe, and there is no logical reason why they’d rather see Serbia conquered by USA than themselves. I hope Haliman didn’t put Serbia as a target just to make the war with Iran look like a part of a bigger scheme, because it still does matter what the United States does and says. Now we’ve pissed Bulgaria, a nation with 22,000 citizens and close ties to Romania. They are currently provoked to think that we promised Turkey some of their regions or planned to follow Turkey to regions they had conquered without Bulgaria’s permit. If we are going to a war with Spain directly or indirectly, Romania and Bulgaria would go to the top on the list of possible European allies. It is not wise to aggravate them for our own security’s sake.

As a side effect of the war and a worrying sign of the apparent poor communication within PANAM is Brazil’s MPP with Iran. It was signed a day before they signed a MPP with us, 18 days ago. We declared Iran as our natural enemy 9 days ago and had fights with them in Balochistan about 3 days earlier (there aren’t time logs in war pages anymore, can’t say for certain) so either Haliman pulled the Iran campaign from his hat in 4 days or Brazil wasn’t notified of our intentions to invade Iran, something that would wreck our MPP and waste 100G from both nations.

We need some straightening to our foreign policy. Right now we’re planning utopian campaigns, pissing off people left and right while trying to be friends with everyone and failing to find WMD’s. PANAM isn’t going to work as it was designed if we’re amassing European superpowers to form a counter to the very same nations we are signing MPP😒 with. We need some serenity and stability to our foreign policy instead of running like headless chickens. We can’t be allied with Poland and hate Spain with the rage of a thousand suns at the same time. Looks like our President is going to try anyway.

I hope his successor is able to clear up this mess.
