Greetings Bros, recently I happened to join #blacksheep on irc, essentially just to see if I could get a few more votes for an article of mine.



As this was my first time interacting with anyone affiliated with the Blacksheep party I was curious about what to expect. I was immediately greeted quite nicely by Roper and with my curiosity piqued I began a short impromptu interview. Below you can find a simplified version with just the questions/answers as well as the full convo for anyone interested in reading it. Anyone who (like me) doesn't know very much about the Blacksheep party but is interested in learning just a little bit feel free to read the following interview. If not then feel free to move along.




Simplified Version

Question One
18:01 buce: Was just curious about how active this channel was?
18:02 Roper: our irc activity is mainly in our unit members channel, we all play a irc game there that keeps us active. Here we mostly just idle

Question Two
18:03 buce: How closely linked is your party with your MU?
18:04 Roper: Close, we started the party because blacksheep mu members really didn't fit in any of the existing parties
18:05 Roper: we needed a home on the political front too
18:05 Roper: plus we had the extra wood and guys wanted to extend the barn
18:06 Roper: MU doesn't require members be in party and we dont' push any poltical view on our members
18:07 Roper: PoliticalDebater is congressman for uswp and we're as proud of him as we are all our guys on congress this month

18:07 buce: Are you guys surprised to have become a top five party?
18:08 buce: Not that I dont think you dont deserve the spot, I just havent seen you campaign that much until recently
18:08 Roper: no, everyone worked their butts off in past few months recruiting and getting our name out
18:08 Roper: You need one of us on your friend list and you would have

18:09 buce: So what sets the black sheep apart from the other political parties?
18:10 Roper: We dont' take sh*t and are more concerned about the well being of the country and its players than we are about having the pretty buttons that come with power

18:11 Roper: us not taking sh*t make us not the most popular but we're not here to be popular, we're here because we want to enjoy playing a online game and think everyone has a right to do just that
18:12 Roper: that's why we worked so hard last month, we helped prevent a PTO and thanks we got was told we we're allowed back next month...In true blacksheep way, we worked our a$$es off and showed them they don't get to "Allow" us crap

18:16 buce: What sorts of jobs does the party side of the Black sheep offer
18:16 buce: Are there opportunities for advancement, especially for new players?
18:17 Roper: you'd have to speak to henryfrench about that, I just do my part to support the party stuff
18:17 Roper: Yes we never shut the doors to any member who wishes to help out and make our group better
18:17 Roper: we're a tight group so that takes trust but we treat everyone as family and want our guys involved
18:20 henryfrench: we have most things covered but we can always use extra help, best thing to do is to get to know everyone

18:18 buce: What is your policy for members being elected to congress?
18:18 buce: Does party leadership choose who gets on the roster or do members?
18:19 Roper: This month and probably next party leadership does, we want to make sure we get started on the right foot and 1 rogue for any reason will just give them a reason
18:19 Roper: we get a secure hold on top 5 then it will open up for more and more
18:20 Roper: we got 10 in this month, would like to get 15 next and 20 the next
18:22 henryfrench: We love to give people a shot for congress but we need to get to you know you first we have people who have been around still need to get in so won't say it will be quick but stick around have fun and if all goes well you will have your shot

18:26 buce: Do you guys believe that more aspects of the game and country should be decided in game, or on off-site forums/ irc?

18:27 Roper: we are very active on irc and have requested mu be added to ingame chat testing but we don't use forums
