Happy Mardi Gras to all citizens of the New World! I am Bienville, and on my 65th day of eLife, I am officially launching my Congressional Campaign for the great State of Louisiana in the February of 2009 elections!

Introduction

eRepublik is a massive game with as many ways to play as there are players. Explore this New World, interact on the forums, build your Business Empire, travel and learn about other cultures, become a Statesman, become a great General, corner a countries currency Market -- the only limit is your imagination and desire.

As a proud member of the CVP, I believe that the role of government should be to provide what is necessary, and then get out of your way.

Taxes

I am strongly opposed to the current tax plan. An income tax of 25% is particularly harmful for new players. I support a tax plan that is based more on consumption -- VAT. There are too many ways for older experienced players to avoid paying income taxes. I propose the following tax plan;

10% Income tax for all industries
20% VAT for all goods except food with a 1% VAT
15% Import tax on Iron and Diamonds
30% Import tax on all others

If the need for more revenue for the Government is greater than this plan provides, I would be willing to compromise as long as the needs of the newer players are respected.

I believe in a strong America, and think the best way to achieve this goal is to encourage and support new players, not make it impossible for them to prosper by taxing them to death.


Military

I am for a strong Military and again believe the best way to achieve this goal is getting the newer players involved. I am against the new plan to fund almost exclusively TANKS. Granted a reserve for TANK funding is probably necessary to forestall invasion, but the focus should be broader based. Support --- weapons, moving tickets --- should be provided to all active citizens that want to participate, giving all active citizens the opportunity to advance in RANK and experience points. Support should be limited to budgetary reality. Within budgetary limits weapons should be purchased and stockpiled during peace to maximize the return on investment.

I am for War Games with our allies. We need to strengthen our military without strengthening our enemies as much or more. War Games would provide the opportunity for our citizens and allies to gain rank, experience and health without strengthening our enemies.

Foreign Policy

I am in full support of our current MPPs, and think we should explore expanding our alliance to some of the newer Countries.

PEACE vs. ATLANTIS
I am for retaining our membership within Atlantis, pending the reforms actually working.

Conclusion

My name is Bienville and I am asking for your vote to represent Louisianan in the Congressional Elections in February. I believe that at 65 days old, Level 15, Rank of Sergeant,active in the forums I have the right mix of experience and the recent memory of the frustration in getting started with eRepublik to to represent Louisiana in Congress. I pledge to do my best and make Louisiana proud.
