Bhane: The Candidate

Day 1,250, 17:05 Published in Ireland Ireland by Bhane

CANDIDATE: BHANE
PARTY: IUP
REGION: DUBLIN
I am a man of my word, and I am a TD of honesty and integrity. I endeavor to be the candidate of the 2-click citizen.

Perspective
I know that the vast majority of citizens do not sign up for external sites. Most parties and in-game organizations have created sub-forums and such. I have vowed not to sign up for any external site and limit myself almost entirely to in-game communications of mails/shouts/articles/comments. I know this is unpopular with many established members that insist I go through their processes. Excluding myself from these sites helps me view the goings-on of eIreland from the perspective of the average citizen, and I hope other members of the dail will respect that. Since the average 2-click citizen does not have access to these external sites, I won't have access either.

Promises kept
Last month I said I would try to lower income taxes, to put more money in the hands of the eIrish citizenry. I successfully lobbied the other TD's to pass the income tax cut. This did not help me very much, but I did it to help Joe 2-click. The biggest fear of this action was a major loss of tax revenue for the country. I am tracking some numbers I will publish at the end of the month that seem to show this has not happened. The increase in consumption and VAT collections seem to have softened the blow of any revenue loss, but we'll see how it plays out in the long run, in another week.

Transparency
I promised I would work to create more transparency in the government, and I started with myself. I proposed the new tax law by first posting the idea in my newspaper. I opened the floor for discussion in the comment section, and mail messages to me. All citizens, from the 2-click laborer, to the CP, are welcome to participate in the discussions. When the discourse had refined the idea to the best possible plan I could submit, I proposed the tax cut.

Small victories
I have had many small, personal projects come to fruition this month.
) The income tax cut was a victory I have been working toward for quite a while.
) I had been setting aside a small portion of tank production every day and was finally able to make a donation of 50 tanks to the IA (approximately 1 per member).
) The moment I heard about Seanan's collection for donations toward future MPPs, I immediately started scrounging together a little extra cash. I have been able to donate 2,k IEP to date. I will give more when I can.
) I am continuing to use my own funds to do my best to increase the value of the IEP.

Prepared for the future
I have no specific promises to make for the upcoming term. The raw material change this month will hit all of eRep like a ton of bricks. I make no specific promise, because I know we will need to be able to react to changing needs. However, you can be confident that I will advocate for what I feel is best for the average citizen.

A vote for Bhane is...
a vote for eIreland
a vote for the average citizen
a vote for the future

If we make eIreland a better place for the 2-click citizen, we make eIreland a better place for everyone!

P.S. Sorry for the tl;dr
