You'll read a ton of articles about the closing of the Kyushu battle, what may or may not become of Operation Wakka Wakka, lots of supportive and probably even more critical opinions, and of great interest to all will be the data...
I was just out there on the battlefield with everyone else-- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gaius Julius called the plays, the US Military being sent in in waves, and when our USArmy was called we went.. the Berzerk Order-- it's Go Time, all out: Fight five, heal, maybe work/train/gift up, but then right away go five more.. maybe six.. some went seven. I did five and five.
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~paalncem/images/civil-war-reenactors-2.jpg" border="1">
I'm telling you, the aftermath looks like Matthew Brady photos after Gettysburg-- acres and acres of countryside littered with the dead and dying.. the walking wounded-- both EDEN and PEACE/Phoenix-- staggering like lines of dead eyed zombies past each other toward their own front lines.
http://www.old-picture.com/civil-war/pictures/Gettysburg-Casualties.jpg" align="left" border="1" width="300">We'll all check our Wellness recovery plans, do the Gifting and set up Food for overnight, do a one-fight wellness recovery fight tomorrow, maybe still be on light duty come Thursday. The Generals have a day, maybe two, to figure out the benefits and costs of today's battle, and what the hell they're gonna make us do next.
All of EDEN and PEACE/Phoenix, soldiers and civilians, we're all going to spend the next day or so recovering and reading about it.
This battle for Kyushu really stomped the living crap out of both sides. Both will claim a victory of some sort. Maybe PEACE/Phoenix spent themselves dry, too much so to recover quickly enough for Round Two. The battle ended showing Japan still in posession of Kyushu, but did the battle end instead of going into game mechanics overtime as the EDEN Allies claim? The protest has been filed, with corresponding supportive data. Here's an article where they've been keeping tack of the numbers since the start of this Kyushu battle, and the results sheet has been updated frequently-- by now I bet the final numbers are out. [STATS] Kyushu Battle Statistics
http://www.nyduvcw.org/images/Wounded.gif" align="right" border="1" width="300">Now, you're no doubt pondering your own wellness situation.. you're working with your buddies to exchange gifts, loan each other money and gifts, you're buying bigger food.. you're trying to make sense of the sliding scale formula for wellness recovery and going "oh, screw it, this is what I'm doing and we'lll see in the morning what I have left to do tomorrow."
Look at yourself. Ten fights.. eleven? did you work and train and gift in between or beforehand, or afterward and give lousy production to your boss? what about your platoon mates, your closest buddies? What're your numbers.. 50%.. 40%.. less..? That small wellness percentage number after a Berzerk Order is your Red Badge of Courage.
I ran into our unofficial USArmy Chaplain, Pvt Micah7-8 on my way off the battlefiel
😛he's at 35%
My staff.. 1Lt Ralph Vundu: 87.56% I found out later on that he'd gone five, healed, and was in the middle of his second set of five when the battle ended.
Our other Staff Writer, Aeros: 38.04% ..you look like hell, brother, but as long as your hands and your typewriter made it, we'll be fine.
I'm at 50%, myself.. this seems about the post-battle average.
http://picture.comegoogle.com/old%20pictures/civil-war/pictures/Wounded-Civil-War.jpg" align="left" border="1" width="300">Our USArmy's Executive Officer Brigadier General Hadrian X: 47.76%
Our General of the Army NXNW: 50%
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gaius Julius: 39%
President of the USA Jewitt: 37%
Look up any United States Military Forces soldier, any EDEN Forces soldiers, any PEACE/Phoenix soldiers.
Those grand statistics we'll be dissecting for days... those are us, those are nearly every player on this cartoon ePlanet. I think we were just about all there.
President Jewitt had fought beside us, then stood with us as we watched the last fights tally and the final score displayed. Funny, as we all let out a big groan and shook our heads, our President seems to stand taller and his steely gaze could have burned through the monitor. Godzilla himself would have taken a step back. Suddenly there was a flurry of comments, and some soldiers were asking "what's next?" and looking for direction. Jewitt stood at the center of nearly 500 soldiers from all USA Military branches.
"Guys, that was an amazing performance."
One soldier was heard to say "Maybe I should have tanked - 17.17 str and FM." Another: "We should have attacked later." And, "I hate Japan."
President Jewitt assured us, "One lost battle does not mean a lost war, and there will be plenty where that came from."
Soldiers all crowded around, a single voice sometimes clearer above the din.
"
😉on't hate someone you attacked."
"Now were gonna get trolled to hell."
"Let the trolls troll. I don't see them doing anything to help."
"Small win-- they outspent us, no doubt"
"But by how much?"
Jewitt answered, "Quite a bit, soldier, we'll know more in the next few hours."
Another voice, "Not just in Japan, they opened a lot of battles for distraction."
"Either way, we gave them a Hell of a fight and we drained almost everything they had." Jewitt's voice is rising above all others. He wants everyone to hear this, we should settle down and listen to our Commander In Chief. "Our coordination is top notch, and to do that this early in the day local time is saying something about how far we've come. So, just keep an eye out in the next couple of days."
http://www.ericwithac.de/manfred/images/Gettysburg.jpg" align="right" border="1" width="300">The crowd began to break up, soldiers taking stock of themselves and each other, forming in groups to discuss the battle and the future. As Jewitt made his way toward the Command Tent he walked perfectly straight, eyes straight ahead and clearly focused on the task at hand, his tailored blue suit ragged and still smoldering from the shoulders.. I wondered if that was from gunfire or if he was about to spontaneously combust.
"Mr. President!," I called out, "Holy crap, boss, are you alright?!"
"Custer! You look like hell, old man. Why aren't you back at the firebase watching this on CNN?"
He's screwing with me, of course.. Jewitt and anyone who knows me, knows how I roll.
I'm almost trotting to keep up with his great stride.
"Listen, boss, you know they're going to serve you up for lunch over this... you put your ass on the line to follow a JCS plan... that got dropped in your lap like the bomb did to Truman."
Jewitt stops short, turns and looks me square in the eye. It burned.
"Well, we lost." I about shit my drawers. He continued, "But we shouldn't be too used to winning everything. Sometimes a loss on the battle field is a win in our pockets. Phoenix/what ever they call themselves out spent us and lost a lot of money. They are in worse shape wellness wise than us, but that does not change the fact that Kyushu is still in Nippon."
Then he seemed to ease up a bit.. it's okay, now, it's easy to talk with Custer..
"On a side note: The math doesn't add up, we should be in OT right now."
"I was surpised at that, too, boss. So this is not at all an upset for you or for America. Is it more of a step back in the dance?"
So much for casual.. Jewitt's manner and his voice went hard again. "Regardless, this is just the first time around.
http://712educators.about.com/library/graphics/lincoln3.jpg" align="right" border="1">We will more than likely continue onward into Asia, as our allies depend on us. Japan stayed true to their word, they would defend their homeland and they have all former-PEACE behind them. They knew if Kyushu was lost, there was no stopping us." Another stern Presidential look right through my eyes. "Regardless, this won't be the last time."
"I won't ask any 'what next' strategy questions.. I bet the JCS is working on that already."
"Yeah, it's being argued right now," he growled.
Okay, I gotta get him to lighten up.. we're moving pretty briskly along toward the Command Tent, and we both know he's stepping into a shitstorm. He wants to go in there on fire, I don't want to see any more bloodshed so I'm trying to edge Jewitt toward Commander In Chill.
"
😉oes anyone get smacked in the back of the head for this? a little "you dipshit! I told you so!"
"Yeah, I get smacked in the back of the head just because my face is on the Country Stats page."
Ohhh-kayyy... that went real well. His suit seems to be pouring out more smoke from the collar now than it was on the battlefield.
"Regardless, it was planned out by us, the allied forces, and neutrals supporting our cause. We did our best, and to anyone that saw it they saw the coordination that went into it."
He stopped a few feet from the flap of the Command Tent entrance.
http://www.vawatchdog.org/pix/civil-war-soldier.jpg" align="left" border="1">"Yes, a lot of planning and skill. Talent is something great, and is why we always see a fresh face on the JCS every couple of months. It's innovative ideas that brought the whole Operation Wakka Wakka." Jewitt is changing.. it's not just straightening his collar and tie, shrugging his shoulders and pulling his bloody coatsleeves snug.. he rolls his neck, adjusts his glasses, takes a deep breath and sets his appearance... he is now-- now more than ever as he enters the Command Tent to address the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Senior Staff Officers of all our Military branches... now he is The Boss.
The President of the United States of eMerica turns to face me.. just "Pops" Custer, tired old typewriter soldier, and snaps the cleanest salute anyone has ever fired off at me, then smartly on his heel and toe about face, and in two strong strides he's into the Command Tent. The MP closes the two large flaps and takes his at-attention position.

My friends.. my brothers and sisters in arms... I have just spent ten minutes in the presense of a man who bears a load on his shoulders unmatched by a United States President since Lincoln.
I think I'll go pay Chaplain Micah7-8 another visit.

You touch a Phoenix.
You get BURNED.
Keep your hands off of our eJapanese brothers.
Some good points. This loss isn't what we hoped for but may be what we need.
Good read
very good article!!!!!!!
very well written
Excellent Article. I love reading all of these.
Very good narrative! Slight nitpick: Ansel Adams wasn't alive during the American Civil War... you're thinking of Matthew Brady.
I think we telegraphed our move from a LONG way off. Japan MPP'd up, and fast. More stealth, tighter control of info. Our objectives should be achieved before they even know they've been hit.
great pictures
Great article
thank you, Jeffrey-- edited that.
I really have trouble with those "first person" articles though they are kinda neat, and I absolutely can't stand a straight Q&A interview. So this mess kinda wandered around, hopefully not too aimlessly.
the three points did hit home-- the personal sacrifice by every individual, the greater loss as a nation, and the strength and courage of our President. so I'm okay with it.
Very entertaining read, good stuff 🙂
I stand ready to eat fried chicken!!! http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/i-stand-ready-to-eat-fried-chicken--1077162/1/all" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/i-st[..]1/all
I stand ready to eat fried chicken!!!
Nice, I see you took our conversation and turned it into a full recollection xD
Must say, brilliant work. On the field, and on the newspaper stands.
Very entertaining and excellent points. I hope all soldiers read this for the morale boost.

Good read, and good work to all of EDEN. This war will someday end, and we will be the victors.
Excellent article Custer. O7
inevitable victory, and you undeniably spent more then us, even woxan wont deney it with his amazing "statistics" that none of us mortals get to ever see
Proud to be a eUS Marine and soldier of EDEN. O7
Proud to be a part of the brolliance.
I love how serious he makes raising a lower a number on a wall seem, as if people actually used effort to attack each other. All you guys did was click a lot, calm down.
Im at 26 wellness after battle so beat that 😃
@ SERBIANA
Don't you mean "our eJapanese slaves/minions/serfs/gatekeepers?"
Sorry boss, But I can't seem to be able to move much right now. Fortunately I can type with my teeth.
Oh, and about the typewriter...I need a new one. I broke mine over some Russian dudes head.
eAmerica will prevail!
10-4
>eJapanese brothers
Pfft. I can't be the only one who had a hearty chuckle after reading that.

Excellent!
Proud to have fought with my EDEN brothers on the first line of the battlefield!
Chaplain Micah7-8 checking in...
Custer needed the second visit...
I think this is the very BEST article I've read since I play.
This should be mandatory reading for new kids on the block.
aurelije the family guy o7
well written, a fantastic article
28 wellness! I new low for me!
Great article Custer! Hoo-rah!
OUTSTANDING effort, gentlemen!
I would NOT 'fault' the work of this magnificent team!
That said, some of our analysts have indicated that preliminary evaluations showed great propensity (on the part of the enemy planning team)for very LIBERAL allowances for 'multi-layered' AUTONOMY. Likely, this was given to the majority of all enemy armies...to provide "SIGNIFICANT" weaponry to their mid-level fighting teams.
In other words, they 'spread' the 'bread' as incentives to mid-level troops to 'rank-up'...resulting in increased MOTIVATION!(not to mention, MASSIVE self-arming...and even some (likely) tanking.
No country on our eEARTH has so MANY LOYAL citizens who are SO READILY INSPIRED! Nevertheless...in the military, as well as in civilian life, ACTIONS speak loudest!

That was awesome Custer, keep them coming
Damn, this article kicks ass! 🙂
Excellent work!!
that is some mighty fine writin', General Custer! i am writing from the oppose side, of course, but i appreciate a good read. and it the subject has special interest for me as i am a member of congress from Kyushu! yes, i used to be eAmerican but decided to move on to other things, finally settled into a comfortable life here in eJapan!
wish i had some writin' skills like that of my own, but here is my latest article:

i have to say,
whoops, lost the end of that comment...
i have to say fightin' you guys was the most interesting day in eRep for me. i hope next time we can be on the same side, even if i don't like yankees, i like russkies even less!
if the Admin ever answer my petition for a "Confederacy" eNation, i'll be right back there starting a resistance war in eAlabama, YEEHAW!!!!

that would be the link to Imperial Congressman Peter McGoon's newspaper.

My. Freakin'. God." will just fall outta your mouth.
Thank you for your hospitality, Congressman McGoon.
Of course we hope your Congress will listen to your Emperor President and allow EDEN pass-through access to the mainland. I've already seen the "you owe us big time for defending you" comments from your PEACE/Phoenix buddies... wonder what they'll expect in return for defending their stolen Chinese Iron on your hallowed ground?

Great article, I liked the narrative.
well-written! I rarely vote for media outside of Japan, but yours gets my vote. Congressman McGoon needs to work on his spelling before he can write at your level, Lt. Col. Custer! I hope he will stay and represent the Imperial Sun Party in Kyushu next month, too.
And a "well-fought" salute to the soldiers if the eUSA military. There's very little triumphalism over here, just determination to defend our home islands so that Kyushu is never again occupied like it was in July.
nice
epic fail
Well said.
I put 15 fights into Kyushu in two days.
I don't feel bad about that--
I remember too well how Japan made the deal with Indo for 2 Q5 hospitals, to allow Indo to cross Kyushu, invade Hawai'i, my home in California, and the rest of the United States.
It turns out, Japan made a very good deal. They get to keep their two Q5 hospital bribe, and still claim they are "neutral" (just like the UK) and blameless.
Personally, after 15 fights in two days, I'm tore up from the floor up. I berzerked in the last 5 minutes of the Kyushu battle, and was gratified to see US presidents, former presidents, vice presidents, and the former chairman, JCIS, do the same.
It gave me hope.
The first time we tried to get back back California, it fell short. The first time we tried to get back Ontario, it fell short.
Let the trollers troll, and exult in their temporary victory.
We'll be back.
