Austria Needs Us All

In the recent article posted by Nykoal about the Illuminus Austria Party, Oraizan posted the following, way down near the end of the comments. I think its worth giving a little attention.

"As a politician and somebody wishing to run for president you should know that opposition is the best thing for a country. A country can not grow on ideas alone, it needs opposition to pick at the ideas and work them until they are perfect. If you don't have that, you just have half-success so to speak. You are not reaching your full potential as a country. Your enemies in the country are the people who will help you take the country the highest, not your friends."

I agree with this sentiment, but rather than saying enemies, I would just say "people who disagree." A nation does need people with opposing viewpoints for the very reason Oraizan outlines - it makes the course Austria eventually takes all the stronger, because the views have been defended, articulated, and well thought out.

So there are no enemies, everyone is, in the end, on the same side. Just with different opinions.

The IA definitely belongs in Austria, along with it's members. With that said, so do the other parties and people! Some people in the IA have taken the attitude that any criticism of the current government is horrible for Austria. This isn't the right attitude either, nor is it the right defense against people who say the IA doesn't belong.

Criticism and disagreements are a good thing for the country. We should try to keep it at a respectful level, without resorting to insults ("you don't belong here," "I played the game longer, you know nothing!") and work together towards bettering the country. This is a big task, and it needs all of us working on it to succeed.
