As My Term Ends

Day 1,658, 08:48 Published in Japan Japan by Sumeragi Akeiko

Given real life circumstances, I'll be writing things a bit earlier.

"When the people are wrong, as their elected leader it is my job to show them that. The day I am afraid to do that is the day I am no longer fit to lead."

This is the quote by which I went through my term. After months of occupation and almost constant ignoring of the opinion of eJapan by eROC, the election of two people who had been cooperating as leaders of their countries lead to a breakthrough. While there has been several troubles starting (among those the massive barrage during the Shikoku liberation battle, which would have led to outright war if not for the intervention by the presidents), both countries have managed to reach an agreement which may not be in the complete interest of both, but still does give enough to at least make it bearable.

While most of the turmoil in eROC is beneath the surface, things have not been so quiet on our side of the border, with some of the most vocal putting up quite a campaign. Still, given the overall situation, I still believe this is the best outcome possible, although it might not have appeared so to individuals who have been far removed from eJapan from one of the darkest era in eJapanese history. Whether having come back after laving the country in its time of need or settled in the relative peae of foreign lands, these people have their opinions. I will respect their thoughts, but cannot agree with them. That is what true democracy is supposed to be, isn't it?

Internally, eJapan has come back somewhat. The nonexistent MU supplying program and the Senpai/Kouhai program have been revived, and are slowly building yp the country. Congress is getting more active than before, which may be either good or bad, but nevertheless better than the apathy of before.

At this point, I can say that I am satisfied with my terms. The land has been plowed and the seeds sowed. It is now up to the successors to keep the harvest growing. I'll be missing the elections, so I leave the reaping to you.
