So, how has the week passed in the New World? Who has made progress? Who has been dealt the scent of defeat? Find out in this week's edition of Around the World!

MAJOR WARS

North America

Viva la Canada (on hold until Canada regains regions)

South America

Before

After

The War for South South America

Belligerents: Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay vs. Spain, Brazil, Chile
Results: Argentina's not here right now. Leave a message after the tone. For the Spaniards that expected a hostile welcome to Buenos Aires, they were in for a (pleasant?) surprise when they found an empty battlefield. With little resistance, they supported CoT ally Chile in conquering all of Argentina's home regions while their adversaries are off in Britain. If anything, the Spaniards may have fared better using their airstrike on Argentinian Britain, as that may have supported their ally more. But for what it's worth, Argentina is gone from South America, as are fellow CUA Bolivia and Uruguay. The fight lives on elsewhere.

Winner (campaign): Spain, Brazil, Chile (devastating)

The Colombia Revolution (on hold until Colombia regains regions)

Europe

The Poorly Navigated War for the Falklands

Before

After

Belligerents: Argentina, Ireland vs. United Kingdom
Results: Now this is a fun war. Ireland's blitz of the northern chunk of the island, legally owned by United Kingdom, was but a preemptive strike to support the Argentinian cavalry raining down from the sky. With a tough but hard-won victory in the East Midlands, Argentina secured its position in Europe. And while Brits have put, at times, massive amounts of damage to hold back the Argentinian steamroll, the Brits have yet to crack the puzzle, as Argentina threatens to conquer London. The Irish have not been so lucky, however. Despite victories in Northern Ireland and Scotland, they have since lost the initiative in Wales and their gains, and the Brits have landed in Wexford. The Irish may be the weak link that threatens to doom the invasion.

Winner (this week): Argentina, Ireland
Winner (campaign): Argentina, Ireland

The Scandinavian Scuffle

Before

After

Belligerents: Finland, Norway, Sweden vs. Lithuania, Estonia, Germark, Latvia
Results: As Asgard sends its troops to Britain to help eradicate the British, they have left their homelands relatively defenseless. And their enemies have taken full advantage. Lithuania conquered the last Swedish region and holds their enemies down with little opposition for the moment. Germark simply marched into the remaining Norwegian regions with little effort themselves, wiping the weakest of the Asgard nations. Finland remains a bastion, however, holding back minor Estonian momentum to maintain the status quo. However, how long can they hold out? Asgard's home position is in need of serious help.

Winner (this week): Lithuania, Estonia, Germark, Latvia (devastating)
Winner (campaign): Lithuania, Estonia, Germark, Latvia (devastating)

Asia

Balkan Liberation (on hold until Albania/Bosnia/Croatia regain regions)

Before

After

The Turkish Gold Rush

Belligerents: Turkey vs. Poland, Serbia
Results: Turkey may be a strong nation in its own right, but it was little match for their Polish and Serbian adversaries. Poland's successful landing in Ankara was far less trouble than many had expected, and the firefights never appeared at nearly the magnitude expected. With Serbia bringing up support from their Israeli base, Turkey had no chance, and the poor showings in some the battles certainly showed it. With Poland's legitimate reasoning for conquering the regions rather than simply for pride and lulz, Turkey may have to be patient and wait for an opportunity to escape.

Winner (campaign): Poland, Serbia (devastating)

The War for Cairo

Belligerents: Greece vs. Bulgaria, Macedonia
Results: It was going so well for Greece. Bulgaria was on its last leg, with Saudi RWs from the south and Greek attacks from the north encapsulating the Bulgarian regions still remaining. Then, it all fell apart. A failed attack in Asir later, in which the Greeks just ran out of steam, the Bulgarians have come striking back, retaking Tabuk, while their Macedonian allies have struck, first in Sinai, then back in Europe, taking the region of Macedonia from Greek hands. Greece pulled off a series of miracles to even get this close, but it seems that CoT may have survived the onslaught.

Winner (this week): Bulgaria, Macedonia
Winner (campaign): DRAW

The Iranian Freedom War

Belligerents: Iran vs. Macedonia
Results: While Macedonia gave a helping hand in Egypt to their Bulgarian allies, it also continued its barrage on Iranian regions. There was little stopping Macedonia, as Iran buckled under the pressure. The battles haven't even been close, as Iran saved its strength and appeared to accept the imminent. Either that, or Macedonia is simply that much more powerful. No matter which way, it appears that Macedonia will bring a quick end to Iran's existence, at least for the time being. It will take great coordination to manage to beat the Macedonians, so the Iranians must have patience.

Winner (this week): Macedonia (devastating)
Winner (campaign): Macedonia (devastating)

The Thai Liberation

Before

After

Belligerents: Croatia vs. Thailand, India(?)
Results: Thailand gave a real scare, as Croatia quickly fell back to the north of the subcontinent, allowing Thais and Indians to hold onto the south. But with strong efforts in Croatian-backed Indian RWs, the Thais were uprooted from their holdings in India. And with Thailand out of the way, India's been no match. Croatia winning the war and wiping hasn't happened yet, but it appears to be a foregone conclusion. India has neither the strength nor the allies to defeat one of the former Balkan beasts, and India, like Iran nearby, seems to have accepted the inevitable. The threat is over.

Winner (this week): Croatia (devastating)
Winner (campaign): Croatia (devastating)
