Around the World #32; One-Sided (Foreign) Affairs

Day 1,959, 00:06 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

So, how has the week passed in the New World? Who has made progress? Who has been dealt the scent of defeat? Find out in this week's edition of Around the World!

By the way, I have a couple of ideas in terms of graphics. Don't expect anything, but I might toss something in next week if it works out 😉

And lemme know if you like me organiszing it like this 🙂

MAJOR WARS

North America

Viva la Canada (on hold until Canada regains regions)

South America

Start

The War for South South America

Belligerents: Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay vs. Brazil, Chile
Results: The war continues! While other wars have come and gone, the persistence of CUA has been a constant, with Argentinian and Uruguayan troops fighting against the odds versus their stronger Chilean and Brazilian counterparts. However, Chile's strength alone is becoming more apparent, as Chileans have pushed inward into Argentinian lands. Uruguay, with merely one home region, struggled to hold back Brazil, giving up Charrua after a close battle. With Argentina backed into a corner as the last CUA nation standing, it looks very grim for the ex-EDEN country as it faces off against the Chileans.

Winner (this week): Brazil, Chile
Winner (campaign): Brazil, Chile

The Colombia Revolution (on hold until Colombia regains regions)

Europe

The Scandinavian Scuffle

Belligerents: Finland, Norway, Sweden vs. Lithuania, Estonia, Germark, Latvia
Results: Yep, combining the wars because it's all one big cluster anyway. Anyway, Germark, long a Terra nation that fought alongside former enemy Sweden, has swapped sides themselves, slowly aligning to CoT and working alongside fellow CoT Lithuania. While Lithuania has successfully wiped Sweden, giving Latvia a break from the front lines, Germark has made its way into Norway, landing on the coast of Sorlandet with what appears to be a successful invasion. The strongest bastion for Asgard, Finland, is holding their respective enemy Estonia with a standstill, recently holding back the Estonian navy off the shores of Southern Finland. However, with Germark turning from pro-Asgard to pro-CoT since the last war, Asgard will have to muster out the extra damage themselves.

Winner (this week): Lithuania, Estonia, Germark, Latvia (devastating)
Winner (campaign): Lithuania, Estonia, Germark, Latvia (devastating)

Asia

Balkan Liberation (on hold until Albania/Bosnia/Croatia regain regions)

The Turkish Gold Rush

Belligerents: Turkey vs. Poland, Serbia
Results: Well, that was an epic battle for Central Anatolia, wasn't it? No? You sure? Well, Turkey was doing just fine up until Poland redirected its airstrike from Sydney to Ankara. Up to that point, Turkey was amazingly holding off Serbia, as the Serbs managed to land on the Med. Coast but were pushed back off in two mighty fights. However, Serbia of course still has their base in Israel, which was unfazed by a Turkish attack. But now with TWO of TWO's strongest nations (eh? ehhh? no? ;_😉 invading Turkey, it's unlikely that Turkey can last much longer on its own. Teamwork is a necessity.

Winner (this week): Poland, Serbia
Winner (campaign): Poland, Serbia (minor)

The War for Cairo

Belligerents: Greece vs. Bulgaria
Results: With Cairo potentially being a site for a goldmine, the stakes were higher than ever for both Greece and Bulgaria. No longer fighting merely for the region bonus or personal pride, the prospect of gaining massive amounts of gold sent troops from both EDEN and CoT into Egypt, causing a firestorm in the region. As Greece invaded Egypt, they received more and more resistance from the Bulgarian occupiers, with strong battles in Lower Egypt culminating in a massive war in Saudi Arabian region Tabuk, ultimately ending in a Greek victory, frankly a minor miracle judging by the damage advantage (eh? it rhymes! I think 😮) that CoT has with TWO. Greece may find luck yet in the region.

Winner (this week): Greece
Winner (campaign): Greece (devastating)

The Iranian Freedom War

Belligerents: Iran vs. Macedonia
Results: Iran may have been a benefactor of Russia being invaded by Poland, seeing as suddenly RWs were successful left and right as Russia focused on holding off the pink blob. However, with their new neighbor Macedonia in town, it certainly wasn't gonna be a particularly pleasant time freeing all of their regions. With a renowned interest in the region, Macedonia declared war on Iran once more, and has shown no signs of slowing down. Iran is simply overpowered in this matchup, as with the extra region bonuses they couldn't procure in the Balkans the Macedonians are now very powerful. Iran will need to find more external support to keep their neighbor at bay.

Winner (this week): Macedonia (minor)
Winner (campaign): Macedonia (minor)

The Thai Liberation

Belligerents: Croatia vs. Thailand, India(?)
Results: No, no, it's not running away. It's called a strategic retreat, obviously! With minor power Thailand threatening to destroy the Croatian empire in India (frankly, how much can little Thailand do?), Croatia has employed a withdrawal technique and using India as a shield to protect its colonies. As it has worked before, the Croats wasted little time in doing it again, starting revolts in both Thai-controlled and Croat-controlled Indian regions in hopes of building up a wall that can protect their regions before they tear it down later. And while Croatia lost its first few battles (as according to plan, surely 😑), they're showing a lot more fight now. Can Thailand overcome their damage disadvantage?

Winner (this week): Thailand
Winner (campaign): Thailand

The Backwards Chinese-Japanese War

Belligerents: China vs. Japan
Results: This makes no sense. Japan is supposed to be the one that invades China, not the other way around! Well, not much to see here. In one corner is the mightiest and cockiest of all EDEN nations, flicking aside Spaniards, Indonesians, and Polish with ease. In the other is a nation that got wiped by Taiwan. Multiple times. Even with CoT funding, it's not hard to see who has the advantage here. Starting with Hokkaido in the north then moving to Kyushu in the south, it's relatively smooth sailing for the Chinese, even though Japan has managed to keep the battles close. China should have an easy time. Right?

Winner (this week): China
Winner (campaign): China
