Day 1,883, 12:14 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

So, how has the week passed in the New World? Who has made progress? Who has been dealt the scent of defeat? Find out in this week's edition of Around the World!

MAJOR WARS

The Chilean Counterattack
Before

After

Belligerents: Argentina, Bolivia vs. Chile, Paraguay
Results: Argentina had but one region even at last week’s update. Could a miracle have happened? Perhaps. Did it happen? Not exactly. The Argentinians lost their last region of Mesopotamia, and a loss in Patagonia meant a wipe of the Argentine nation. The Argentinians’ frustration was clearly evident, as the traditional EDEN powerhouse left the alliance they’ve been apart of for many years. However, the wipe didn’t last for long, as Argentina has since been very successful in its RWs. Fighting with a vengeance, perhaps it’s Argentina’s time to rebuild.

The Croatian Naval Base
Before

After

Belligerents: Croatia vs. India
Results: Well, not much India can do, right? Despite India’s CoT MPP stack, they certainly haven’t received enough support from their ‘allies’ to fend off Croatian occupation. More working towards a common goal than true friends, CoT’s hesitance to go the extra mile for India showed, as Croatia managed to pull off close campaigns with success, teasing India with the prospect of victory yet pulling away at the last minute. India has now but a couple of regions left, and with current relations between the two, India will have to secure their independence by force. And that’s not gone well.

The Balkan Suppression
Before

After

The Greek Rebirth
Belligerents: Greece vs. FYROM
Results: Good news everyone! Greece got wiped! Bad news everyone! Not for long! Greece reached an unfortunate conclusion to their campaign in Saudi Arabia, wiped for the first time in over a year by Bulgarian forces. But taking advantage of Serbian occupiers’ complacency, Greece resecured first Crete, then their other regions, one by one. FYROM, controller of most of Greece’s territories, attempted to secure the remaining regions, but Greece struck first, recapturing Central Greece and marching north ever since, slowly liberating their nation in painfully close battles. Greece ain’t going away that easily 😃

Winner (this week): Greece (minor)
Winner (campaign): Greece (minor)

Feasting on Romania
Belligerents: Romania vs. Hungary, Poland
Results: Turkey was neutralized by the combined forces of Hungary and Bulgaria. Now, it’s Romania’s turn. Being both in a geographically sound position and an EDEN powerhouse, Romania was an unfortunate but natural target. And, like in many EDEN battles against powerhouses, Romania simply rolled over and let Hungary and especially Poland march through their lands, taking region after region. EDEN has decided to take their troops somewhere else, where the chances of success are higher. What does that mean for the Romanian people? Let’s see how they enjoy a wipe, because the way things look at the moment, that’s what they’re looking forward to.

Winner (this week): Hungary, Poland
Winner (campaign): Hungary, Poland

The Defense of Norway
Start

Belligerents: Canada, Norway vs. United Kingdom
Results: Canada? Versus United Kingdom? This hasn’t happened a million times before. But hey, it’s a war. This time, the war isn’t simply about Canada and United Kingdom’s eternal brotherhood. The Brits declared war on Norway, a pro-Asgard nation that essentially is a gateway into the Scandinavian region. The Norwegians may not have been a part of the formation of Asgard, but many Swedes and Finns consider Norway to be the little brother. WIth Canada moments ago agreeing to an Asgard trial membership, it’s a great chance for Canadians to show their new loyalties to the Arctic alliance. No love lost between Canadians and Brits, eh?

To be continued...

The Battle for Scandinavia
Before

After

The Finnish March South
Belligerents: Finland vs. Estonia
Results: Ahh, that’s more like it. Finland recovered from a series of surprising losses, fighting off the last bits of Estonian occupation in Eastern Finland then marching south once more, capturing more than half of their neighbor’s regions. Finland has long been the superior force in this ping-pong war, being the aggressor during most of the battles. Despite a brief period of time battling in Finnish territory, the Estonians have been forced to retreat, and looks to be on the verge of a wipe once more. However, Finland will have to go the remainder of the war whilst looking out for their Norwegian brothers. Can they keep the offensive?

Winner (this week): Finland (devastating)
Winner (campaign): Finland

The Swedish Coastal Barrage
Belligerents: Sweden vs. Latvia
Results: Go Sweden go! Latvia had half of Sweden occupied at one point, but times have changed, huh? The Swedish army has liberated the homeland, and has started progressing into Latvian territory. As a result, Latvia has its western regions occupied. Latvia has been unable to fight back against the Swedes ever since a resurgent Swedish army started fighting back. Resistance wars have helped slow Sweden’s progress into Latvia, but Sweden’s wipe of Latvia seems all but destined. Sweden is but a small step away from fully occupying Latvia. After that, it’s just an oppression game.
