So, how has the week passed in the New World? Who has made progress? Who has been dealt the scent of defeat? Find out in this week's edition of Around the World!

MAJOR WARS

War of American Unification
Before

After

Belligerents: Canada vs. USA
Results: It's almost as if the Americans can't beat the Canadians. For a nation often believed to be one of the strongest in the game, scrappy Canada managed to hold off the Americans for a long time. While America held the initiative for all of the week and carries it into week 3, Canada has successfully flipped each province back through resistance wars, despite decent efforts by the Americans to hold onto the provinces. With American hopes at the beginning of the war to finish off a supposedly weaker foe quickly, this elongated war against all odds has to be a good omen for those on the Canadian side.

Winner (this week): DRAW
Winner (campaign): USA

Polish Liberation of United Kingdom
Before

End

Belligerents: France, Germany vs. Poland, UK
Results: Poor France. Despite rumors of peace deals, apparently no deal was made, as the mighty nation of pink gobbled up the tan France in no time flat, a speed only matched by the quick revolts switching control back to the Brits. As France fell, Germany quickly avoided a similar fate, thanks to both their 'non-aggression wink wink nudge' deal with Poland and a quick Danish-flavored blockade to prevent the Brits from advancing. Poland is not known for its mercy, and players would do well to get used to the Hipster Pink Blob (TM) blobbing from Brittany to Mazuria, as France isn't coming back any time soon.

Winner (campaign): Poland, UK

Portuguese Resurgence
Before

After

Belligerents: Portugal vs. Spain
Results: With so many Spanish troops overseas in America and Venezuela, they seem to have thinned out their forces at home. Consistently in the top 5 for daily influence, Spain seems to have trouble beating resilient but clearly inferior Portugal. Despite many wipes of the Portuguese, Spain is never able to completely shut the door on a comeback, with Portugal recapturing half of its home over the last 168 hours. With so many of Portugal's EDEN allies in Serbia, it's a minor miracle that Portugal has held out this long, and it seems like the trend will continue for a while.

Breakdown of the Serbian Empire
Before

After

Belligerents: Croatia, Greece, Italy, Albania, Bosnia vs. Serbia, Montenegro, FYROM, Slovenia
Results: No matter which side wins in the end, this will go down as one of the most epic wars in recent memory. With the goal of crushing Serbia and wiping it from the face of the map within reach, EDEN forces made a final push to take down the Serbs. Despite losing the Croat forces in South Dalmatia, Croatia managed to recapture Slavonia and make a new base of operations, while their Greek allies ground their way through thick defenses to reach Serbia Prime. With Bosnia and Herzegovina joining in on the fight and giving an extra front, Serbia seemed doomed.

However, the other major front, the Italian side of the war, seems heavily in favor of ONE. With most forces focused on attacking Serbia, Italy has been unprotected against the tag-team of Slovenia and FYROM, which gobbled up most of the Italian land, while the Albanian rebels have at last fallen. The Serbia front itself has turned ever-so-slightly in ONE's favor, with Bosnian and Croatian fronts being held back and Greek initiative being the lone source of attack for EDEN forces. While Serbia needs a hell of a miracle to come out of this intact, there is the tiniest ray of hope, but whether it is true possibilities or a mere passing of the wind will be revealed in due time.

Winner (this week): Croatia, Greece, Italy, Albania, Bosnia
Winner (campaign): Croatia, Greece, Italy, Albania, Bosnia

Ukrainian War of Belligerence
Start

Belligerents: Russia, Moldova, Bulgaria vs. Ukraine
Results: This is why nations tend to form alliances. Ukraine forgot the first rule of combat, which is 'don't mess with Russia'. After some border issues and a desire to ally with ABC, Ukraine decided to surprise attack the Russians while they were busy battling the Baltic nations, despite Ukraine's connections with EDEN. Ukraine quickly lost its MPP stack, and other nations with a grudge decided to pitch in to show the Ukrainians a lesson, and indeed they have. Ukraine is broken, with almost all lands being divided up between the Bulgarians, Moldovans, and Russians.

Winner (this week): Russia, Moldova, Bulgaria
Winner (campaign): Russia, Moldova, Bulgaria

The Alphabet War
Start

Belligerents: Finland, Russia vs. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
Results: This is a very fun war to watch. Though the Finns and Russians greatly outman the ABC alliance, Estonia and Latvia have held off their foes for a long time in wars past. However, Finland has pushed into Estonia while Russia conquered all of Latvia. Although Lithuania's attack and Ukraine's betrayal forced Russia to let go of Latvian lands, Finland remains on the offensive, and Russia has successfully defended against Lithuania. TEDEN has gained the advantage over the mini-alliance.

Winner (this week): Finland, Russia
Winner (campaign): Finland, Russia

MINOR WARS

Romanian War of Unification
Before

After

Belligerents: Romania vs. Hungary
Results: With almost all international interest in the war fading away in favor of the battle next door, the war has become a 1v1 battle once again. For what it's worth, Romania has managed to keep the initiative and push into southern Hungary, and successfully fought off revolts in their captured provinces. Though it'll take awhile for the dust to settle, Romania made a few definite gains.
