Apathetic America

Day 1,305, 10:14 Published in USA USA by Joe DaSmoe

Been awhile people, I got a few things to say.

Apathy. The most harmful symptom of an ailing nation. This game has become part of a daily routine for thousands of us. We log in, work, train, fight etc etc. It becomes a bore, people stop caring, and we find ourselves in similar situations that we now find ourselves in. Outnumbered, outgunned, and facing the looming threat of being wiped from the map of eRepublik. This is not new America. We have been here before. The difference is our outlook, our communication and cooperation amongst each other. Many of us no longer care, the game has become no fun, or not worth our time. Its been a long road that has led us to this point. I'll just run over a bit of it here then politely tell you all to STFU and fight lol.

We stand a nation divided. We are effectively split into four groups. We have the new Armed Forces, we have the old, JCS led, eUS Military, we have uninvolved players who log in to merely fight and rank up their citizen, run their companies etc, and finally we have a large portion of Turkish players, the INCI. Each faction has its own ideas and goals, each group has its own agendas and views of the game, each of us have differing ideas on the way the country should be run, differing thoughts about how the so called "meta-game" expands or should expand the eRepublik experience for us. The varying viewpoints go on and on.

We need not forget however, we all have one glaring similarity. It stares at us every time we log in. WE ARE ALL PLAYING eREPUBLIK AS AMERICANS. The trivial stuff doesn't matter.

We all live in, work in, fight for our nation. This commonality is essential to every single one of our personal experiences in this game. This game is more than a game for many of us, its a community. I've often heard players say, I don't play eRep for the game, its the community that keeps me here. Problem is, we have allowed our personal vendettas, bickering and paranoia of one another to destroy our community as a whole. We no longer communicate effectively, we no longer cooperate, many no longer care.

The events of the past year or so have led us to this moment in time. We stood as a powerful nation for a long long time and this is the first time in two years that we face a strong possibility of being exterminated. This notion was unheard of post WW3. Yet the game changes, time goes on, people change, people leave. I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I will be completely unable to enjoy my time here in this game if I cannot play as an American. I suspect the majority of you feel the same way, even those who reside in foreign countries now as some semblance of protest against the divisive events that have led us here once again. We are all Americans.

looks about right to me

All of this sh*t has led us to the point of oblivion yet again. I am unsure of our future this time, too many players are completely apathetic about eReuplik this time. In fact, the underlying tone for many seems to be thats the "cool" way to play the game these days. Apathy is a disease upon our game, it affects game-play experience for everyone. In the past, we came together as a team, completely. The net result was over a year of good enjoyable game play for all of us. This game is circular its true, but if we don't get our shit together and cooperate soon, the game that many of have played for so long and spent so much time enjoying will simply cease to exist. Myself personally, and many many other people have way too much time, money and interest in this game to simply watch it fizzle out.

Remember, ya'll have said it so many times, its not the game, its the community. Its time to come home, its time to bury hatchets, its time to unite as eAmerica. Its time to come together as the very community we all speak of. Put your petty differences aside and work together and we will get out of this mess. If not we will simply fade away.

I've been told we have 20 or so days until we are wiped from the map, so I'd say its time to get started. Wake up people, time to give a sh*t again for awhile.

Wishing us Luck,
Lt. Joe DaSmoe, United States Armed Forces.
