Another Day, Another Party

Day 826, 04:44 Published in Australia Australia by Melchizedek Smith

It seemed like only yesterday that eAus had 5 strong parties constantly battling in the Senate, yet today it would appear that every man and his dog (sorry Cerb) feels that it is necessary to start there own party. The obvious problem is, who exactly are you expecting to join? Let's just go over the most recent statistics.

In the most recent Party President Elections we averaged around a 40% voter turnout, that's a total of about 600 votes. Not surprising when you consider thta there were just under 600 votes in both the PM and Senate elections. So it is quite clear that the political base in eAustralia consists of around 600 citizens. However it would be foolish to assume that this constitutes the 'active' population of eAustralia. Note that with the proliferation of organisations that our top local media articles would be reaching anywhere from 500-1000 votes if this were the case. Instead you'll note that the most important news in eAustralia does well to reach 200 votes. So what does this tell us? Well again it would be safe to assume that of the 600 voting citizens in eAustralia, more than half are two-clickers. Now that may seem like a jump, but consider this point. Essentially the aim of the two-clicker is to gain as much experience in as short a time frame as possible each day. For this reason they can be reasonably expected to work, train, fight in wars and even to vote, however there is no benefit to them in taking the time to read and vote on articles.

So I guess that leaves us with around 200-300 'active in-game' citizens. Yes I said in-game. Of course activity in game does not in itself ensure a commitment to encouraging or improving the nation. So once more our 'active' citizenship shrinks before us.

So again I have to ask who exactly are you expecting to join? eAustralia currently has a number of strong and important parties, and yet even the most successful ones are in reality 'struggling'. So what is the solution? Well I believe that it is time to take some bold and frightening steps. First and foremost, those parties that are not helping to develop our nation need to die. Secondly parties need to begin to recognise how they can work together to ensure that they are opperating at there optimum levels. I understand that there are numerous political views that people wish to express, but one must remember that this is just a game and as such there are limited views that the game can support. It is my belief that the parties that best fit those moulds already exist, and yet as I stated before, we continue to see new parties born.

Imagine with me for a moment if you will:

*Party A has 150 members.
*Party B (100 members) and C (50 members) have the same orientation but have slightly differing
political views.
*Parties A, B and C decide that they will rewrite their policies to reflect there common beliefs and
allow individual members to make decisions when necessary (eg Senate voting) regarding
unspecified policy.
*Party D, a failing party with 5 members, is taken over by a representative of the above parties.
*Party D receives the active in-game members of the above parties and suddenly has a membership
of 150 members, however the member base is now almost completely active.
*Parties A, B and C are left to die.

You don't have to agree with me or my method on this, however I think that this is something that we as a nation need to stop and consider if we want to continue to be a constructive country.

All that said it is time I addressed the members of the True Blue Party regarding the state of our own party. I took on the job of rebuilding the TBP as I sincerely believed it to be a party worth maintaining, and being perhaps the highest ranked party of its kind I thought that beginning here was the logical conclusion. From the outset I have made it clear that rebuilding the party would not be easy, however I have also consistently put forward that success in this endeavour will only come if we work together.

Members of the TBP I am in the business of helping people. If there is nobody here to help then I will find someone else in need. This will be my final appeal. If you want to see the TBP resurrected head to the forum now. Silence will just be another nail in the coffin.
